So, I just got done watching the last day’s highlights (shoot me for not having the courage of staying up all night and taste this garbage - never thought I would ever use this word in the most anticipated game of cricket), and rather unpleasantly, I was very much surprised to see the reactions of crowd. Huge chunks of people were shown just running out of the stadium as there was some kind of atomic threat instilled by Babu, the famed toilet cleaner and head of PCBs planning committee (:D)
Besides jokes and fun stuff, my surprised was doubled in the morning session, when, after a couple of overs had gone by and there looked to be no intention of playing extravagant shots by the batters, a musical rhythmic sound from the Far East clashed through my ears: “Jeevay, Jeevay, Jeevay Pakistan…Pakistan Pakistan Jeevay Pakistan”. Besides having assumed that somehow, we have entered the twilight zone of '96 WC Quarter Final encounter, the belief was strongly encouraged to be true when, furthermore, immediately after the dismissal of Younis Khan, an auntee (no, not the police auntee :D) was shown on the screen with every inch of her body language screaming “Ya-Allah khair@#%% Match Pakistan kay haath sey nikal gaya**Rukhsana, mein do rakat nafil pardh loon”. I mean, seriously, what is there to expect? Given the ‘dramatic’ conclusion in Lahore and even moreso an ‘overly dramatic’ events of the past four days in Faislabad, was there ever much doubt on the outcome? I can understand the frustration of having to stay up all night (or day, depending upon your geographical location and ‘sooraj ki kirnein’), but just experiencing this crowd pain and bearing it is flat-out unbelievable.
Re: Crowd reacts to Afridi/Younis dismissals (OMG!@! Pakistan WC haar gaya##%%)
Thanks PCB. I dont have any Hope for Karachi wicket too. What a shame. This is worst test sereis I saw after those boring test matches of 80s. 2 more series like this would be enought to kill Test Cricket.
Re: Crowd reacts to Afridi/Younis dismissals (OMG!@! Pakistan WC haar gaya##%%)
The excuse made by PCB makes alot of sense, I mean the weather in Punjab is very cold at this time of the year, lack of sunshine can make the pitch very flat.
Rightnow in Karachi the weather is slightly warm and it should be enough to prepare a good test match pitch.
I am making an assuumption based on previous test matches held at Karachi. Most notably the England test match in 2001 where the match was really exciting and offered assistance to both sides.
