I started exercising on the cross trainer at the gym. The treadmill was just too boring and keeps aggrevating my knee, which I damaged a few months back.
So i’m wondering, what areas of the body does the cross trainer target? Will my inner thighs shrink? Will I have 18 inch thighs if I keep at it?
It targets both upper and lower body and is non weight bearing so will be better for your knee as there is less impact. Your inner thighs will only 'shrink' if you have fat there to lose in the first place, if not they might end up bigger if you bulk up the muscles in your legs.
I was overdoing it on the treadmill a few months back and seriously ended up screwing up my knee. I need something that won’t aggrevate it and the cross-trainer did very well when I tested it out.
How does it target upper body too? Does the arm movements affect the waist area? I sure hope so!
It depends which programme you do on the machine, but basically the more you concentrate on pulling and pushing with your arms as well as your legs then the more all over body toning you will end up with.
I am on the same boat here. Although treadmill has helped me build my stamina a lot it is still very boring. I have also started with cross training last week. One thing i have noticed is that no matter how much i run i don't get sweat on treadmill but cross training makes me really sweaty and feels like a real workout.
i did the cross trainer for a few months and then switched to the treadmill and bike.. i found the later two to be a lot more affective than teh cross trainer.. hmm
but yeah i agree, the cross trainer doesnt aggrevate ur knee so its good stuff :k:
Jal-Pari, try cycling for about 30-40 minutes, u’ll sweat like no tomorrow and the calorie count will be like only 150 it sucks!
That's true JP, the treadmill helped me to build stamina and did help me tone up quite a bit. I was surprised at how much I sweat on the cross-trainer. You don't really 'feel' it as much as on the treadmill but I guess you are really working out.
^ yeah i personally think walking is the best neways... even like if u do half an hour walk everyday after dinner (fresh air walk) its really good... i think i lost more weight doing that than being at the gym..
I love the cross trainer. Can go 45 mins only before getting tired
It totally helped my waist!!! But it did not help my thighs too much eventhough it is supposed to target that as well. Of course my butt shrank too :k: Works like a charm! Now only if I can shrink my thighs.
did it really shrink ur butt? it only toned mine.. yeah i used to do 50min on the cross trainer.. now 15min and im like “thats enuff…”.. cycling is really good mehnaz :k:

I am really surprised that you do not know the calculations. Just send me the current length of your legs and the width of your thighs and I will calculate the exact size after one week of 30 minutes per day training. Other dimensions will also help the accuracy of the numbers.
Mehnaz, cross trainer is good..but personally i think that if you do only one thing at a time..it gets boring after a while..you might wanna try a combination of workout. Also, try adding variety of activities to your routine..like skipping rope..squash..yoga..aerobics..pilates etc can be helpful..Maybe you can pick different days for different activities.
The program that i find attractive is curves..its a bit expensive though..about $40 a month..but you only workout 30 minutes..basically you move on from one station to another in a minute..and i have seen some amazing results of my ex-colleagues.
