Re: criticising religions and their texts
There are many things in religion that need to be criticised. It would be unfair to subordinate the human beings of the 21st century to the god-concepts and ideals of earlier centuries.
thats just ur take on it. I on the other hand would like to be subordinate to a God concept which is 1400 years old and just as fresh today as it was back then.

Some criticism can be expressed only by using analogies or satire. That must be allowed. Often an important and necessary criticism was suppressed by calling it an insult to some great man or system etc.

dude by all means criticise the actions of the adherants of a faith but why do you need to insult the founders? Islam and Muslims perticularly are criticised about a hundred times more than any other religious group now a days, and yet people complain they are not allowed to criticise. Tune into any news channel and you'll hear phrases like "islamic militant", "islamic fundamentalism", islamic fachism", "islamic radical". Hypocracy?
Its all high talk when u'r talking about somone else. If i talk ill about your father or some other person u value in ur life, then we'll see how long the rehtoric holds.

A lot of fascism is being practised under the garb of religion - especially in islam and by muslims. Similarly a lot of imperialism is being practised in the name of faith, especially by muslims. That needs to be exposed and criticised.

really? it might be a bit inconvenient for you but most of the imperialism practiced is by non-muslims, whether its geographic or economic.

There is no perfect religion or perfect book of guidance or any last and final prophet. Human beings need new guides, books, explanations etc. from time to time, and we have to listen to them without being fixated on some old ones.
There should be no book-centred or person-centred fascism and totalitarianism.

Sure if thats wot u like. Others might have a different approach. When you are telling them, they can't have their way, aren't u being a fascist? Islam perticullarly is centered on God. We believe the book God revealed was perfect and for all times as God Himself is not bound by time. The wisdom contained in the book is for all times, as God's wisdom is not limited to certain times.
Now you might not believe in that God and thats fine. We are not telling you to conform to our ways, but it seems like you want us to conform to yours.
