Thats exactly what I was thinking. I was wayching Big Idea on CNBC and they were saying its the best time for certain markets to invest in.
Reasons being..
best talent to hire
Less competitive market
Best time to invest in Real Estate In USA

The key is getting the timing and the price right, unless there is a strategic fit or synergy benefits. However its difficult to predict the future.

Ability to predict "bottom" or "peak" is probably the most important factor in making money when market is going up (from bottom) or going down (from peak) [applies to stocks, futures, real estate mainly]
In different kinds of crisis people make money but its not everybody's game everytime. For example here in Dallas there was big hailstorm caused damage to many many houses and cars. Those in roofing business and dent-removal business made money, also those who knew how to connect the dots.
For economic crisis, though its widespread across different sectors (not restricted to financials only) not everybody will be able sneak in and cash-in.

Economic downturn can be an opportunity for investors to take advantage of the situation and make money. However timing is of the essence and buying too early into an economic downturn might result in huge losses as not enough resources might be available to ride it out.
