Okay, so my dad’s new employers in KSA needed to do a background check on any family member over 18 which would be my parents and I. So since we’re Canadian, the company wants the Canadian gov’t (or was it American?) to do a background/criminal check. And they needed my email, took my mom’s as well.
How odd is that? I dont know why but I’m nervous! >.< Has anyone heard of this weird practice? Dont they just check your passport or something along those lines? WHY EMAIL!?!
Usually they check police records but for that they shouldn't be asking for email address , may be they asked for addresses where you ever lived or something like that . Its weird .
indeed....quiet freaky....but dont u have a lot of email add??? gmail, yahoo, hotmail, uni, etc etc
I only have 3: gmail, hotmail and the one assigned from my Uni. I gave my gmail since it's my main email that I use. I dont have a Facebook and no social networking sites (like Twitter for example) are linked with it. I just found it weird. Maybe I'm just overthinking. I dont know.
Asking for an email address for a criminal background check is not normal. They normally require your Social security/DOB/Drivers license # etc.,
Email/internet activity is checked if you're trying to pass a security clearance for a government job but then you're not even required to give that information. They dig for that stuff on their own.
Yeah, what the hell are they going to ascertain from an email address?
The only thing I can think of is signing you up for ENLARGE **** NOW, BIGGER ***** NO EFFORT, and the ever so famous I AM A PRINCE OF AFRICAN NATION, emails
Or they could just want to monitor your emails henceforth
OMG! Monitor my emails?! WTFFFFFFFF. That is so disturbing. Someone else said they might just need it to send a confirmation email about how so-and-so company requires certain info for a background check for said job.
I seriously hate being over 18. I wish I could stay 17 and 11 months forever and ever.
And I've been thinking, maybe they just need some info to verify stuff on my dad. Obviously I have no criminal record but second, I have nothing to do w/ the job he's taking on. Of course they would just use my social security or passport if they were checking criminal/background records.
