the exodus of the educated ppl from afghanistan was quite massive. I was reading some stats on it a while back about the number of professors and doctors etc and how it went down quite drastically.
Not sure if they are planning to go back anytime soon either, I mean afghans who moved to pak dont want to go back, why would afghans who moved to the west would.
I think some of them were considering it initially when the Taliban fell... I think many of these people and their children are very patriotic and perhaps even naive.
But the situation is so bad now that I doubt anyone will want to go back.
There are no jobs, no safety... Why would anyone in their right mind go back?
The only descent place is Kabul and few other cities in Western Afghanistan, but tthese cities can only provide so many jobs before being saturated.
Honestly think the whole Iraq war screwed Afghanistan all over again. ot only did they lose billions in aid in favor of Iraq, but they lost the relative stability of having US troops there. Also, it now seems evident that the militants who have been trained and tested in Iraq are now passing on their knowedge of running a succesful isurgency to the Taliban and their like. Bush administration has to be the stupidest ever.
