Cricketnama has become a cemetery !!

Yar Some1, the lack of participation by several guppies has much to do with the current state of the game of cricket in Pakistan. Its not like our team has never been through a horrible phase. We have seen ever poorer performance from our team but we always have supported them no matter how they play. We commend or criticize them but at the end of the day we still love them.

Its also not like that we have realized that all the talent has gone and so we are dissappointed that we are left with bunch of mediocre players. I firmly believe (and I dont know why) that Pakistan cricket will never ever suffer the same fate which Pakistan hockey or squash suffered.

The problem which is the source of disgust right now is that all kind of bull$**** is happening in Pakistan cricket except cricket. Let me list few of them off the top of my head

If there is an arguement/fight among players that will be leaked to the media somehow.

*If a player is banned from playing cricket, then somehow he is allowed to play another kind of cricket known as IPL and we become a laughing stock for world wide audience. *

If an ex banned unbanned player wants to get high, he must carry his **stuff **while travelling in a plane. Jumah Jumah 8 din hoiey hain charsi banay hoiey, likin ab itnay baray charsi bun giey hain kay thora intizar nahin hota.

*If our chairman wants to criticize the team, somehow we all read the content of his letter in our morning newspaper. And then after few days we see our chairman sitting at the boundary ropes applauding and clapping like a little girl. *

A top official is fired from PCB with a serious accusation of leaking information to the media and then is reinstated after couple of days.

If our nazuk emotional captain is not feeling upto it, he will very conveniently decide not to face the media. He thinks he will feel offended by what people have to say about him or the team but never realize that people already have judged about him by seeing him bowling his full quota against teams like BD and Zim and not allowing new comers to bowl, and then chickening out against stronger oppositions, doing a lap of honour after beating the mighty Zim by 5-0 etc

*It beats me that how a guy who could not be part of playing 11 in a test match is actually our captain. *

I know we are not among the most disciplined nations and the same goes for our departments and so we can always expect some kind of unprofessionalism. However NOT to this extent and when that happens I guess fans like me just sit quietly and wait/hope for a change

P.S. **If Kamran Akmal somehow is back in the team then I will edit this post and will put him on the top of my list.

Re: Cricketnama has become a cemetery !!

^Welcome back…Culturally, India is obviously not much different from Pakistan, but there must be something good in our Cricket setup somewhere that keeps a lid on “indiscipline” and “unprofessionalism” to a large extent. Of course, we have Harbhajan’s slapgate, Ganguly episode etc…but these are few and far between.

I created a thread back in 2004 about this “uniqueness” of Pakistani Cricket :

Re: Cricketnama has become a cemetery !!

No matter how much I am disappointed with Malik's captaincy and authority over the team, one thing I will always admire. Him conceding match to prevent Lahore to proceed to the finals. If I were him, I would said 10 %(%$*&$ live on TV to those who are ruining our cricket. Favouritism and nepotism is eating our cricket like termite. I would have retired afterwards, &^$^ the game of cricket and its thekedaars forever and would be writing a book to unveil zilalatgiri happening in the name of city politics.

&^%$%^^&& yes I am that mad on those thekedaars!

PCB deserves this team. Only donkeys like them can have policies like that. I bet, if Naseem Asharaf continued and senior/junior tussle remains same, cricket will be same as hockey and squash in Pakistan. We will churn out Bengladesh A and B teams in dozens with some geniune pacers (gift of God literally) here and there, but will never be able to have class players like a decade ago. Our system is so (*&^&*up that it can only bring bhaanjay bhateejay to the top.

Genuine pacer is a specie that exist in sub-continent that are self discovering and self grooming by large.

Re: Cricketnama has become a cemetery !!

I stopped posting here after I saw Some1 quit Gupshup :naraz:

Just kidding. Multiple issues are going on. I have been busy with work, family as of late and the great captaincy, selection issues are just helping me stay away. ek Mohammad Sami jaata hay to doosra aa jata hai, ek Imran Farhat jaata hay to doosra aa jata hay, sigh.

It was exciting to watch good players being brought onto the scene but some of them turned into Sami or Farhat or they just got kicked out. Our team started to have problems in “openers” in post 2003 WC but seems like we are having problems in all departments now. Younis and Yousuf are good but middle order is still spine-less.

Exciting cricket attracts crowds and dull cricket just turns them away.

Re: Cricketnama has become a cemetery !!

Well, can’t say about others, but I am not posting GS much at all, so Cricketnama is part of it. Hopefully will be back shortly.

And just to emphasize how disconnected I am with Pak cricket these days was today at lunch, met a few friends, and one of them asked “did Pakistan win?”, and I said “win what?”. Thats how little I am following Pak cricket these days.

Here is a prayer that there will be some interesting scandals, some heart-warming controversies or, if all else fails, our team will win some amazing games to make it all worthwhile again. :k:

maybe there’s alot of cricket going on + the current state of pak team prevents me from posting on KK,but i usually visit cricketnama
ps:no one even mentioned me :frowning: :snooty:
