funguy, without a doubt. There's big pressure in WC matches, that's why some see the South Africans as WC chokers. There's a lot more at stake and it's more difficult to play under that kind of pressure.

Also Msrs Duckworth and Lewis' method heavily favors the team batting first. Remember 1992 WC semi final SA vs ENG?. SA needed 24 of 13 balls.Showers came down for half an hour. Revised target was 22 of ONE ball !!!.

That was not Duck lewis. It was some weird method developed by Chappel
Now the phase of Group B is loking very interesting, next week's match between South Africa and Newzeland really decides who is guarnteed a spot in super 6.
West Indies still has Srilanka to come which they will hopefully beat.

Funguy Teams normally choose to Bat or Field according to their strength.
Teams like Pakistan, South Africa whose bowling is better than their batting normally bat first and that's why I was surprised to see Waqar chose to bowl first.
Teams like India, WI, Zimbabwe, England normally opt to bowl first because their batting is better than their Bowling.
Teams like Australia - Dont care. They actually prefer to lose toss, because first they beat the hell out of opposition and after that everyone can curse the losing team captain that their decision was wrong.

And teams like India, after scoring 204 all out against holland have no idea what they are doing... One of the reasons why everyone can then start throwing stuff in to get the match abondoned...
bangladeshi team should be asked to play District cricket in tets playing nation...can you believe it..
They lost 4 wickets in 1st over.Which include hattrick on first 3 balls of match...
had ho gayeeeeeeeee

PATHETIC
currently 40/5
Bangladesh 58/5 (11.4 ov)
Bangladesh's chances of getting a win in this tournament don't look great. I've just read that they've lost 5 of the last 6 matches they've played against Kenya - the last hope they have got to register a win. Test status gets diminished every time these losers step onto the pitch.
Bangladesh 124 all out.
Not bad considering the start.
SL 126/0 off 21.1 overs.
An absolute Rout.

what else do you guys expect from teams like, Bdesh, Kenya, Canada…![]()

lolllllllll u r funny!
Another reason I like Srilankans. Jayasuria said a day b4 the match that he would like to make it a quick win against BD. He did it.
A textbook domination by the lankans.......loved the catch by arnold. I think our poor malnourished brethren did the best that their abilities allowed..and played exactly the way a minnow team is supposed to against a bad boy like SL. I was just puzzled about how the hell pakistan lost to them in 99 WC. Cant wait until the SL and Indies game.
Verdict Relieve Bangladesh of their misery
It’s time to put Bangladesh out of their misery. After their humiliating defeat against Canada, it would have been easy to believe that things couldn’t get any worse,** but with Bangladesh, a newer nadir is never far away. Today’s performance lends further credence to the belief that they do not deserve to play cricket with the big boys. **
Being inserted on a slightly damp pitch wasn’t without peril, but there was nothing in Bangladesh’s approach which suggested that they were game for a fight. If the defeat to Canada stung, it certainly didn’t show. Hannan Sarkar decided that an expansive drive was the best way to deal with the first delivery of the match, while his opening partner, Al-Shahriar Rokon, kept swinging his bat like there was no tomorrow. Barring a couple of sensible knocks by Alok Kapali and Khalid Masud, none of the batsmen made any attempt at circumspection.
Their indifferent attitude was in sharp contrast to the determination on display by Holland and Canada in this tournament. These teams, which are deprived of the opportunity to play top-class sides on a regular basis, seem to value the World Cup matches a lot more. Both showed a grit and discipline which has eluded Bangladesh despite plenty of international cricket.
**
For a long time now, Bangladesh have been pleading the lack-of-international-exposure excuse, but it’s fast beginning to wear thin. In 80 international matches – 63 ODIs and 17 Tests – Bangladesh have recorded three victories, one each against Kenya and Scotland, and another – a dubious one – against Pakistan in the 1999 World Cup. Surely Bangladesh will be better served by participating in the first-class competitions in Test-playing nations than by having their pride and psyche battered repeatedly in such one-sided contests. **
**
It’s time for the ICC to admit that the move to fast-track Bangladesh was a huge mistake. Jagmohan Dalmiya may have strengthened the voting power of the Asian block, but the game itself has suffered greatly.** International centuries and five-fors should be much harder to achieve – against Bangladesh they come far too easily. Chaminda Vaas deserves credit for sticking to the basics – his hat-trick was the result of nothing else – but he’ll probably be the first to admit that top-order batsmen would probably have safely negotiated at least two of his first three deliveries. Cricket can ill-afford games like these. The farce must end.

I totally agree with the writer.
Good article, now we know why Bangladesh was given the test status, not because of their cricketing abilities but so Jag Dalmiya can control rest of the world, he has ruined the image of the game.

** Kenya V Canada**
Canada 65/3 after 20 overs.
Kenya must be favourites to take the game.
Can 186-9 46.5 ovs v Ken
Canada is doing rather well so far, more than what I had expected.
Can 197ao 49 ovs v Ken
Final! Good going Canada! I am hoping they win this match too!
