**The great Viv giving batting tips

Re: Cricket Videos Thread

Thatwas a lot of fun - the one and only Vivian Richards. he coaches with the same positive attitude that he played with. He looks very young - must be an old video or he has the magix elixir for eternal youth.

Re: Cricket Videos Thread

Re: DeSilva's decision, the umpire could not see the ball being dropped by Keeper - so it was a bang bang play. Quite close in real time. Also, while the bat appeard in, it was not clear of it was grounded all the way or exactly when it was grounded. It had crossed the plane of the crease, but not sure if it was grounded when it crossed the plane. Of course, on replay, if ump had access to ball being dropped, then indeed it is a terrible call. Otherwise it is a close call.

Re: Cricket Videos Thread

^ That was not with naked eye. If I am not mistaken, De Silva was the third umpire and he got it horribly wrong despite TV replays

Re: Cricket Videos Thread

^ OK - then the decision is ridiculous

Re: Cricket Videos Thread

Imran Khan the Legend calling back Srikanth after he was angry at the decision of the umpire when he was given out LBW on Waqar’s Delivery and next delivery he got out lol

Re: Cricket Videos Thread

^ sporting gesture by Imran although he was not obliged to do so after the umpire had given Srikkanth out. This was a boring series though. All 4 tests were drawn. Both Waqar and Sachin made their test debuts in this series in 1989

**Allan Donald hostile spell to the Waugh brothers, 2nd test SCG 1997/98

^ Wow - what a collection ofo pull shots.

And may I add - GA - person with the most apt and concise descriptions - enjoy your lead-ins. They are always on the money.

The square cut for 4 (at 08:00) is one of the best shots you will ever see a batsman play
**

Re: Cricket Videos Thread

Yes - that shot was classic Miandad, improvising at the last minute. he looked so much at ease - full of confidence. Footwork against spinners (NZ) rarely seen nowadays. Enjoyed it

Re: Cricket Videos Thread

^ True

Even some very good batsmen nowadays do not have the best footwork

Sehwag in particular gets exposed on seaming tracks because of lack of footwork

**Waqar Younis to Cullinan **(South African batsman)

Re: Cricket Videos Thread

^ Steve Ovett Vs Wasim Akram - pretty good contest! Akram landed badly on his knees once - but managed to hold on. this video must be ~ 12 years old? Since Wasim looks younger.

Us old geezers dont need an intro to Ovett :) Sebastain Coe and Steve Ovett used to rule middle distance running (800m, 1500m) ~ 1980-86. Ovett had a strong finish - and showed glimpses of that as he closed tha gap towards the end.
