The 2006 Asian Games in Qatar will include cricket for the first time.
“Cricket is set to make its debut,” said Randhir Singh, general secretary of the Olympic Council of Asia. The other sport to premiere is chess.

A six-nation event has been agreed in principle, which theoretically could mirror the format of the Asia Cup, beginning on 16 July in Sri Lanka.

There, the four Asian Test nations are supplemented by the United Arab Emirates and newcomers Hong Kong.

“Qatar will talk to the Asian Cricket Council chief Jagmohan Dalmiya to draw out a final programme,” said Singh.

“We expect all the participating countries to send their best teams.”

Cricket appeared in the Commonwealth Games in 1998 when South Africa beat Australia in the final in Malaysia.

It was last part of the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 when Great Britain beat France to take the gold medal.

ehsan wales has its own cricket team and scotland is own.
Does that mean great britain will have to have a mix team? and if it does that means it wont be as effective will it?

Interesting. Wasn;t the original cricket rivalry between England and Australian (1870's)? If thats the case how come France tripped Australia to get to the Finals? And what happened to French cricket aspirations after that?
