As put forward in cricinfo, our nation is going through such a horrendous turmoil back home that it makes even the thought of playing cricket absurd and shameful. I have been active on the KK forum for many many years but it is the first time that mere thought of following cricket or watching a match fills me with a sort of inexplicable anguish.
One may argue that life needs to move on no matter what but one needs to have a “life” first to be able to move on. Our nation has literally been choked and by playing or following cricket or by participating in any other such activity , what sort of message are we displaying as a nation to the outside world and more importantly by doing so, how can we face our conscience? Do we even have one?
Slowly but gradually the international community and the press are raising voice on insensitivity of Pakistani nation. The whole world is surprised that barring lawyer’s community, no one has stepped out. Politicians are quiet and people are busy in busying antenna dishes. But I still have a hope that such a deep silence is an indication of grave tornado that would follow very soon.
I am sure that our team would not want to play cricket if given a choice but a dictator would ruin their careers if they say a single word to such effect. But what about us? At minimum, can we stop following cricket until this crisis is resolved. We need to register protest in whichever way possible and probably this is one of the easiest ways to do so. Do not open any thread or post about this series. If we cannot afford to disrupt our daily lives to this minimal extent, then we do not deserve freedom anyway!
what horrendous turmoil ?? when our shameless minister of railway trying to go to India to watch the game, what can we expect from poor cricket team.
Sheikh Rasheed was denied visa and according to ticker on Geo, Our foriegn ministry was upset with indian consulate officers for denying haramkhor minister saheb from enjoying the game while poor people are denied their basic human rights and innocent people are being treated worse than animals on street of pakistan. laanat hai hamaray politicians ki shaklon per. kuttay mertay bhi nahin hein !!!
Sheikh represents the tyrant regime, so no surprise plus the government would love to portray an image of ‘normal life’ to the outside world and by ‘enjoying’ cricket matches, our nation would provide the dictator with a perfect reason to fool outside world.
yep the current situation is worse than ever. Musharaf has gone lower than what all of his supporter (including me) expected him to do. Thats just shame.
if i had to shoot anyone...they would be no other than 3 politicians that i absolutely truly hate ! .... ch. shujaat hussain..( have absolutely no idea how to talk..) sheikh rasheed and another chaudry ...dont remember his name...
and lol @ sheikh rasheed for even thinking to go to india for the cricket match... these are just the ways to escape cuz they know the governing of Mushy isnt gonna be for long now..and once someone else came in mushy's seat... they're all gonna get their ass kicked badly !
Brave nations dont cave themselves in testing times. There may be other reasons for people to not step out and those reasons can be best discussed in political forums.
America is officially at war, did they stop life in their country?
Korea is officially at war from years, did they stop living?
Iraqis are at war, 100s dying everyday, and in these testing times, they got a glimpse of life and hope when their soccer team performed … You want to snatch hope from poor people?
