cricket equipment

assalamoalikum :jhanda:

hi i have been signed up to play for my local cricket team in the upcoming 2003 season but i have a problem. i don’t know how to wear my thigh pad properly, i had this problem the last time i played cricket as well.

when i wear the thigh pad i seem to cover to much of the thigh & i leave a vulnerable area exposed which could be bruised if the ball strikes that specific area.

i know follow the crease on the trousers as a guide to wearing the thigh pad, is that ok.

i have searched the website for a web site which teaches cricketers on how to wear the protective equipment but i have found anything, ccan somebody help a brotha’ in need .

may allah bless you if you do that, thank you.

I am sure some of the Indian members here would be delighted to put the thigh pad on you, rather than just telling you how to do it :)

If you're a R/H bat then the pad should go on the outer side of your thigh. That's the side which needs protection as you'll be facing the bowler with a side-on stance so your left side is the part of your body which is in line to be hit.

thank you bhaijaan

yaar, jhappi's ok, but the chummi's not really necessary...

Who loves ya baby. :hehe:

:help:

it was supposed to be a japphi only but i didn’t know there was a chummi invovled as well mods’ bhaijaan, sorry i’ll pass it on to diana hayden just for the heck of it.

diana hayden and moi’

And don’t forget to wear cups! :k:

And don't forget your healthy dose of steroids before every match.

Well these days you have thigh pads … for the outer thigh as well as the inner thigh… It would not be a bad idea to get both…

check this site out for thighs guards… it had both inner and ourter thighs…

i wanted to ask that i have a brand new bat which hasn’t been knocked in yet, how do i knock it in without a proper wooden mallet which i don’t have

it cos i will use it in the nets on tuesday and i might break it

u better knock it first b4 u see it in pieces:p...

how mate that's the question i'm asking above your reply, only if you had bothered to read my post properly before answering.

i don't have a wooden mallet to knock my bat in how do i do it without a wooden mallet?

I think the best way to knock a bat is using the ball. You could knock the bat in the nets provided

You avoid the new ball in the nets
Try to play as straight as possible
Let go of the Yorkers

Players always knock their bats in the net. I have seen them use the newer bat to play the first few rounds when they are play defensive shorts and straight bat shorts. They change the bat once they want to play the horizontal bat shorts or aggressive shorts.

If you feel you do not want to risk it the net then you could try catching practice. Make sure you use a used ball.

Comming back to the thigh…

could not find a better pic to demonstrate which leg to wear a thigh guard and most importanly why ?
