Cricket-Australia’s initial 30-man squad for ICC Trophy

SYDNEY (AFP) - Australia announced an initial 30-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy in India in October. Selectors will reduce the squad to 14 on September 7 in line with ICC regulations.

          "We're pleased with this squad of 30. There is a lot of experience in the squad which reflects the fact that Australia has been on top of the international one-day game for some time," chairman of selectors [Andrew Hilditch](http://www.cricmania.com/cricket/DB/stats/user/us03/player/AUSP12) said in a statement Monday.


         "Experience is blended with a group of exciting young players who have largely been involved in the Australia A Top End Series recently and have come through the Centre of Excellence program."


          Australia's first match at the ICC Champions Trophy is in Mumbai on October 18.

Assalam O Aalaikom everybody,

Wow and this amazed me of Australia having much comfortable with squad. Ricky Ponting is the top batsman in the world today and he is upper to Rahul Dravid with making bunch of centuries. Australia has the top rating batsman. We do not realize that how good Australian batsmen are because they have every single best batsman which all batsmen may not have the chance to score enormous amount of runs, same with wickets. I also think Adam Gilchrist is better than Sanath Jasuriya.

I am tired of being Australia being Number 1. When will be Pakistan leading Australia? At the moment, Sri Lanka is playing tremendous and they are tough as Pakistan amongst beating England 5 consecutives ODIs. The main trouble maker person to other teams in Australia is Glen McGrath and playing against him is extremely hard. To shock everybody, Glen McGrath is better than Wasim Akram overall. I just stated a fact according to my opinion for him being a legendarly line-length bowler. After next year's world cup, Glen McGrath perhaps may retire along with other players and rest of the teams may have the advantage.

Another comparison I want to sum up. Shane Warne is technically better than Muralitharan but Muralitharan performs better than him. The reason why I rate Shane Warne over Muralitharan is because Muralitharan checks the ball. He does not bowl at full angle. The reason is true that he can not straighten his arm but still if you attempt to bend your arms and spin a ball, you will get twice as much turn.
