cricinfo's bias

Pakistan beat England in first ODI at Old Trafford by TWO wickets. Mohammad Hafeez was the MoM. Many other brilliant performances from Pakistani players YET cricinfo found the photo below appropriate for their main page.

If this is not bad journalism, I wonder what is.

Definitly, Cricinfo has always been biased towards Pakistan and they give very little credit when due.

We won. Who cares about what cricinfo thinks?????

So its not just me who felt like that. It is not the first time that they have placed Pakistani dimissal on the front page even when we win.
I mean it changes the whole meaning of a victory. I have never seen a picutre of Dravid getting bold by West Indian bowler when India have won the match. They jump in the air like anything.

khair...chotay dil log chotay dil hi rehtay hain...isi mein khoosh rehndo.

Shukar karo headline hi nahee change kar di aur match harwa diya Pakistan ko!!! Some Indians I have seen even change the headlines!!!

Thats why its always fun reding indian newspaper every time Pak wins. when Pak losses they always give it a big headline, and when Pak wins they try to put headline in such a way that suggests that Other team lost due to their mistakes.

Ah.. so everyone noticed it!

Now if I say something I'll have certain individuals jump on me...giving me an earfull.

Cricinfo's good, but the managements need to be changed. It used to be such a good site. Now it has become......

is it an indian owned site?

^ I don't know. But I don't expect much fairness from the English either.

CricInfo is a private company, and has its Head Office in the UK. In 2000, Indian internet services company Satyam Infoway (NASDAQ: SIFY) acquired 25% of the company. The company has operations and employees around the world, with offices in Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. (Cricinfo)

who cares. We won! Kurio tay mundayo, sub bhangra pao!
Inshallah, we'll beat England 3-0, then we'll see which headline/pic they use.

check out this…its like they merely gave this news some space on the site…and its like England didn’t play well…and Pakistan had a disasterous WC in SA…how cheap these journalists are

Thats exactly the point that i made.

not so smooth guy...should I give u some tips in posting?
this thread is about cricinfo's bias rather than what Indian newspaper post on their site...so please reserve your comments to Cricinfo

second...you actually expected the Hindu newspaper to splash this news on their Web site or what??? so naive

Third...did not Pakistan have a disastorous world cup and did not they sack half their??? Dont be selective in reading that article..read it in whole perspective..

Pakistan has won and let us leave it at that...revel in your victories buddy..

Smoothie - Dont be so paranoid, try to read the news properly.
Now go and check the following links :-

Also go and take a look at the Cricinfo site and find the pictures to your liking. The hindu report is right on spot.

PS :- The Hindu is one of the best newspapers in India.

its cos' we are paki's thats wahy

Asif, instead of commenting on the original post, you are bringing in other issues. It would have been nice had you posted an honest opinion. But you are so busy arguing all the time, it is too much to ask.

^ Funguy - I didn't see your post until this morning and after reading your post I checked Cricinfo and they had removed the picture by then, that's why i didn't offer any comment. Then I visited the PCB site hosted by cricinfo and i found this picture

Try to look for something positive, that cricinfo despite being an Indian site covering the Pak matches. Also if you have got time read the reports also :-

*"The most impressive part for Pakistan was the commitment and attitude on the field, thanks to all the charged-up youngsters in the team. Except for the odd lapse, the overall fielding was outstanding. A brilliant catch by Yasir Hameed and Mohammad Sami's direct hit were just two of the highlights. On top of all that, Rashid Latif managed his men astutely - the decision to bring on Mohammad Hafeez so early was one of many bold decisions.
Past Pakistan sides have looked lost if the opposition got off to a quick start as England did at Old Trafford, but there was none of that this time as the youngsters fought back in style. Umar Gul was particularly impressive, which made the decision to give Azhar Mahmood the new ball even harder to understand. In Shoaib Akhtar's absence Umar should have been the automatic choice as Sami's new-ball partner, as he can make good use of the prominent seam early on.

What was pleasing for Pakistan followers was the good show put up by the allrounders. Abdul Razzaq's axing from the original squad seems to have fired him up, and he bowled a tight spell, something that had been lacking recently. Mahmood did better in his second spell, cutting down the loose balls and sticking to the basics. It will be tough is one of them has to step down now to accommodate Akhtar, who is eligible again after his two-match ban.

The early-order batting - ironically the most inexperienced part of the line-up - was the most solid. Imran Nazir and Hafeez batted well, showing the right application at the start. Imran showed his usual flamboyance: he has not fully sorted out his footwork, but his good eye and timing were evident in all his strokes.

It was refreshing to watch a Pakistan opening pair post a fifty partnership at last. And then came Yasir Hameed, well organised and orthodox at the crease, although he got out to a poor stroke against Ashley Giles. Yousuf Youhana's disappointing run continued. He showed only a glimpse of a return to form before being run out. His running has always been poor, with a terrible habit of setting off without calling. His wicket is too valuable to be thrown away, and this is definitely an area for Javed Miandad, the coach, to work on.

Pakistan's batsmen have done well post-World Cup, but they now need to start converting promising beginnings into eighties, nineties and hundreds

Read and find out if it is too much or not.

Asif, the pic was there this morning. I saw it about two hours ago.

I dont care about the essay. Talk about the photo selection, not shot selection.
