Cricinfo.com has received a prestigious industry award recognising it as the UK’s best performing cricket website.

Cricinfo was presented with the `Top Performing Website’ accolade at the recent Hitwise Annual Top 10 Awards ceremony in London (www.hitwise.co.uk)

According to independent data from Hitwise, a leading online market research specialist, Cricinfo regularly accounts for more than six out of ten visits to UK cricket sites. By comparison, its nearest competitor claims less than ten per cent of visits.

Andrew Hall, Cricinfo’s head of product, said that the award underlined the impact that the site had made in the UK and its status among major names in the online sector.

“Hitwise is an important indicator of comparative performance in the UK online marketplace, so it’s very pleasing that Cricinfo has been recognised as a market leader by the Top 10 Awards. Award winners in other categories included Tesco, Lloyds TSB, Google and eBay, so we’re in very good company,” said Mr Hall.

Cricinfo’s dominant position is underpinned by figures showing that it attracts more than three million individual users each year in the UK, who between them record over 300 million page impressions.

With over 20 million users around the world, Cricinfo is the largest cricket website globally, commanding a market-leading presence in India, Australia and most other traditional cricket playing countries. The site is also a significant player in the USA and Canada.

The site’s global success is based on an unrivalled combination of live scores, constantly-updated news, authoritative editorial and comment, huge statistical capability, dedicated country sites and a growing selection of interactive online entertainment.

CricInfo

A very well-deserved accomplishment, indeed! Two thumbs up to an online portal where millions of cricket hardcore fans, as well as casual watchers look forward to for the infinite statistics, late-breaking match news and picture-perfect photographs, well-written columns by recognized artists, interactive blogs, a mighty decent structure and composition of the website, alongwith a heap of related country links, an online cricket schedule, a year worth of cricket in a calendar and ICC’s ten-year plan, and last but certainly not the least, a live RSS feed. All-around, I consider CricInfo as the ‘the cream of the crop’, and the best of the very best. Very glad to read that the initial goal has now been achieved by the team, only now with more clarity and constantly planning to improvise their level of success.

Re: CricInfo scoops a prestigious industry-recognising `Top Performing Website' award

Though Cricinfo has improved by leaps during all this time, but there is one change that I didn't like. When a match is in progress in "Detail scorecard" page, they used to have information about progress of Test matches for each day, who was debutant in the match etc.... they have removed that info now :(

Re: CricInfo scoops a prestigious industry-recognising `Top Performing Website' award

yep...all plaudits are deserved.....who knows what we (i.e cricket crazy expat fans) would have done to get the info we take for granted if cricinfo were not there.....
many more long years to THE cricket portal :)

P.S I sent them a 2-line comment about some error in the Ind-Eng scorecard and they fixed it in an hour and sent me a thank you note, that's some customer service and best of all its free!!

Cricinfo certainly is the top notch site and it deserves the award. Good job Cricinfo!!
It's the best site for Cricket news, stats, ongoing scorecards and commentary. Nothing can beat Cricinfo..
It got great columnists as well and is very well kept and rapidly updated as the game progresses. In short, an allround Cricket site.
