Cremating dead bodies, what says Islam about it ..

I went to an kind of " fashionshow ", where they showed clothes of 100 years back, and they also told that under us (where we walked) there were ppl burried.
I was with my muslim friends, and we asked my Dutch teacher and some other dutch women, why they burried the ppl under us, and we also told that we think its respectless to walk on a graveyard (actually it was a modern church where the fashionshow was held, but under us where ppl 100 years back burried, and they didnt remove the bodies, the names were written on the stones we walked on)
So we were discussing about this all, and suddenly we talked about ‘Cremate a dead body’ , so one of the women asked : Cremating a dead body is not allowed in islam is it? I said No…But that was my only answer, i couldnt say why it isnt.. I searched on the net, and found this as question, now i want to know if this is the reason why cremating is not allowed in islam:

Allah said {Truly We have honored human beings} "and burning a human being is a blatant disregard of the honor owed them as per the Divine will." - Sunnipath.com

"Breaking the bone of the dead [human being] is like breaking it while s/he is alive." Malik, Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and Ibn Majah narrated it from `A'isha, Allah be well-pleased with her.

Muslim burial is by far the simplest, cleanest, cheapest, most practical, most ecological, most expedient, natural, accommodating, humane, dignified, efficient, civilized, unsuperstitious, and simply the most perfect of all funeral ethics.

Cremation as a deviation from the norm. We know from the very first death in the time of the Adam that burial as opposed to cremation is the proper and most fitting way to dipose of a body after death. We all generally agree that burial is best except in a case of extreme harship or emergency which would necessitate something else.

I donot want to argue but since you mentioned above is said by Allah, then it must be from the Quran, please show us the evidence.

Hmm

Re: Cremating dead bodies, what says Islam about it ..

Hey its interesting i read this today, i thought let me add this stuff

Remember when a Adam peace be upon him was created according to the following steps

1) It was dust first

1)Then Clay

3) It was then dry, and the sound would be like the normal clotter clay.

4) The last step is the soul, breathed into the body.

But this is unseen to us, but look at the Creation of Lord, you can see all this when a person is dead, but its just the other way round.

1) Soul is removed from the body.

2) Body becomes, like a clotter clay.

3) Then the water evaporates, and the body is withered out and turns black.

4) It turns into dust.

These are the signs of Allaah swt to us.

**17:70 Walaqad karramna banee adama wahamalnahum fee albarri waalbahri warazaqnahum mina alttayyibati wafaddalnahum AAala katheerin mimman khalaqna tafdeela

We have honoured the sons of Adam; provided them with transport on land and sea; given them for sustenance things good and pure; and conferred on them special favours, above a great part of our creation.**

No where 17:70 means “and burning a human being is a blatant disregard of the honor owed them as per the Divine will”

One you misquoted, two you quoted incomplete verse, three you lied in the name of Allah. I hope you didnt quoted purposely.

Bro, you can go back up and see what I clearly posted was:

Allah said {Truly We have honored human beings} “and burning a human being is a blatant disregard of the honor owed them as per the Divine will.” - Sunnipath.com

Between {} is what Allah has said. And the quotes are from a scholar on sunnipath.com- http://www.sunnipath.com/resources/Questions/qa00003494.aspx

and I am sorry if it is the incorrect verse.
