Credit goes to an Indian.

He has relaunched East India Company which is the most notorious symbol of colonialism, oppression and was responsible for martyrdom of Hindu and Muslim freedom fighters.
At the height of its power, the East India Company controlled large parts of India with its own armed forces.

What was he thinking ? Is there a limit to human greed ? Will India and Pakistan allow setting up offices and stores of this notorious symbol of colonialism on their soils ?

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

Yaar cool down.. Its just a company. HE can call it the Polka Dots corporation for all I care.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

Interesting, i'll check it out the next time I am in UK.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

If a Muslim would not name even a potty making factory as Shaitaan Potties Ltd. And a Hindu will hate to name his business Ravana/Ravan & Company so should they avoid using symbols of colonialism and oppression as business names. That is all I am saying. Those who lost their family member in 1857 War Of Independece or on the gallows after the war will not appreciate this stupid business idea.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

Like it or not he will make a success of it. Just watch.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

I think its ironic that an entity that ruled indian subcontinent ruthlessly for 100 years is now owned by an indian...

lets see when some pakistani will buy black water

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

^
I think that was the point of buying it .. the irony.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

wow nice way of looking at it, totally optimistic, now i don't feel that crappy about it

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

He must be thinking of getting some publicity and thats exactly what he is getting. As much as we dont like the idea, gotta say, well thought and well executed !

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

I agree

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

mirch uncle.. the war of 1857 was a mutiny and not a war of independence.

that's the way its portrayed in pakistani history classes because they like to teach myths more than history.

on the topic at hand... doesn't bother me one bit what he names his company. We are quite selective in our outrage aren't we? After all we happily name institutions and missiles after those who attacked the subcontinent as long as they were muslim.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

^Are you trying to say East India Company was Hindu company back then?

Naming missiles is very different than naming a company like this.

Yes agree with title: Had to be an Indian to revive that company. Even a British person would not have thought of it!

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

lets see wht happens of it in the long run :@:

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

Of course he is a very smart businessman. If he had named his company something else like "Rang Mahal" company he would have hardly attracted all the limelight for his company and himself.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

In business terms, its a good name for a brand. It'll do well.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

SIEGEL: Tell us a couple of things about The East India Company that most people would be unlikely to know.

Mr. MEHTA: Well, Napoleon was kept captive in St. Helena Island by East India Company, and he died in St. Helena Island. His last wish was to have a coffee of St. Helena, which was the best coffee then in the world, and we own rights of the St. Helena Coffee market. The East India Company was also the one which was governor in Madras, was - Mr. Yale, who founded the Yale University by the fortunes that he made working for The East India Company.

SIEGEL: So your company held Napoleon captive and indirectly founded Yale University.
Mr. MEHTA: Yes, that's right. It indirectly founded the Yale University.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

Lol @ his company

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

are you trolling? your posts seem to be right after and in response to mine

eh? come again? which part of my post did you get that out of :konfused:

of course it is… the difference being the missiles are named after muslim conquerers

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

OK. Maybe you did not mean it but it came out this way.

East India company was a British company. Not Indian. Not related to hindu or muslims.

You gave example of missiles which are named against India with the context of muslim warriors. So two opposite religions.

Giving example of missiles were wrong in two ways.

1- EIC was related to neither muslims nor hindus. A third party. An Indian hindu decided to make his company named after it.

2- But missiles are the issues between Pakistan and India with names after muslim warriors. It has been discussed before why Pakistan feels good for naming these missiles.

What is the excuse for this Indian?

P.S. I think I know why you used the word mutiny.

Re: Credit goes to an Indian.

Hmmm.. i am thinking about changing my business name to "East Pakistani" ..will it work.. or i will be lynched ?
