Credit card issue..urgent help needed..!!

I had to cancel a credit card on 04/22/11 due to some fraudulent activity on it which happened on 04/23/11 .
Now more than a week later I received my new cards today.
The issue is that I had used the credit card to make various purchases on the 04/22/11.Those transactions were showing as ‘temporary authorizations’ on my online statement at the time I called them up to report the fraud and cancel the card(which was on 04/24/11)
Now the online statement does not show any of those temporary authorizations.I called up customer service and they see nothing in their system, meaning all those transactions I made have disappeared. They were at a CVS,Payless,Dunkin donuts, gas station, grocery store etc etc.
The customer service person suggested I might wanna go to each merchant and tell them what happened.I do not even have all the receipts anymore…so what am I supposed to tell them..!

What can I do in such a situation? The customer service was actually of no help.I need to know what are my liabilities and will this in any way effect my credit score or have the merchants coming after me or anything…all in all, what will happen now and what can I do…??

**P.S…SERIOUS REPLIES AND SUGGESTIONS ONLY…!!!

also I am posting the same thread in this forum too, expecting some answers.I will really appreciate if the mods do not move it,atleast not until I get some useful replies.

Thanks.

Re: Credit card issue..urgent help needed..!!

This method whould work in the uk, not sure how POS systems work in the usa, I should imagine it's the same though.
You need to remember the date and the approx time of the purchases, the amount of the transaction and the specific till you paid at, with that information the store should be able to narrow down the transaction details and recharge your credit card, it will take time and it's not likely they will be able to do it in the store, you may need to contact the head office.

Legally you do not need to do anything. If the merchants have not got their money, they will go back to the credit card company with proof that their charge was genuine and the credit card company has the option of putting those charges on your new card.

NOTE: I am speaking from experience having worked in the credit card industry.
