Creativity and managers

My question is more of an inquisitive type. How much is creativity or creativeness important in a managers position. How does it add value to his skill sets and benefits him? or is it, that it hardly ever counts?

The position could be based in any industry.
excluding pr/event management/marketing jobs where its importance is beyond question.

I believe its a very strong quality to have. Even as a manager you need creative ideas to get maximum performance from the team they are managing. Similarly, creative ideas are extremely helpful in situations where team members get stuck with a client and dont know what to do and look upto the manager to help.

Also in the day to day time management and resource management , small creative techniques , out of the box ideas can help get excellent results.

In my personal experience when I was being managed , I always used to respect and love the manager for remaining a step ahead in terms of ideas and the way things were conducted. In turn, when I became one, this quality not only helped me gain the respect of the team members but also helped tremendously in fighting for business in a very very competitive industry.

Very very important.

Do the conflict resolution skills make up an aspect of creativity . Ability to resolve conflicts cropping up at the workplace effectively specifically, amongst the subordinates, also reflect how original you are?
