My aunty had this beautiful marquee wedding. She had hired a clown and magician for the children (
some of the adults were entertained by this too). The entertainers made balloons into different shapes etc and the kids loved it.
It was such a peaceful wedding. The adults all caught up with each other and the bride and groom got to mingle with their guests.
Back to the topic, favour wise in our family, we tend to give a little something on each day.
On the mendhi, most of the guys, if they want it that is, tend to get a duppatta (becomes a very useful prop when it comes to dancing:cb:) and the girls/ladies tend to get some chooriyaan.
Just after the Nikkah we gave out bidh packets. These consisted of chawarey, mishri, mint imperials, badam, and a chocolate.
At the valima, tend to give out a little box which has the couple’s name on it and date of wedding and valima. Inside it there tends to be sugared almonds, a piece of barfi and some quality street chocolates, all individually wrapped in different coloured tissue paper.
That is the practice we have adopted at the last few close family weddings. Normally all us cousins get roped into making these favours.
Hope that gives a few ideas.
