I think websites are a wonderful way to share the event with family who may be can not attend as well as provide guests with travel & hotel information, where all the events are, maps & that kind of stuff.
They aren’t expensive at all - I’m really surprised how many services here in the US provide them (some even for free), all you need to do is chose the design you like & load your pictures & information into the format they provide & that’s it. I don’t think I’ve been to any weddings in the last couple of years where the couple didn’t have a website.
