I am thinking about creating a Blog for professional purposes. But I have no idea how to go about doing this. Can someone suggest some good sites where I can get started with this…perhaps give me some tips and suggestions as well. thanks
Re: Creating a Blog
blogspot.com is very easy to use
Re: Creating a Blog
Do you want a public or private one? As CP said blogspot is easy, but is public.
If you want private one you can get an account with a webhost ($5-10/mth), register a domain name (this would look a lot more professional), and usually they provide content managment packages to clients. A very popular blogging package is Wordpress. But these days everyone and their sister has a blogging tool in their packages. Let us know which direction you're headed towards.

thanks guys for your replies....
basically I want a professional looking blog but open to the public. Can I still register a domain name and accomplish that as well?
Re: Creating a Blog
Yes, you can. The difference between private and public is the ownership. Most public blogging sites make you sign a disclaimer that when you blog you loose ownership of your material. If you have your own site all the material on your site belongs to you.

So there is absolutely no way of making it public and putting a copyright on it? hmmm
ok so...i want a professional looking blog that is open to the public....now what do I do?

Yes, you can have threads open to the public
Get an account with a webhost (e.g. Web Hosting – Secure, Reliable and Fast, there’s tons of others). They would let you register a domain name and would give you a cpanel (control panel) account thru which you can control your account and/or install those CMS packages that I was talking about. If you want to see what it looks like PM me and i’ll set something up for you (I’m not affiliated with Dreamhost).

really? blogs are being used by many companies and even executives to reach out and connect to the public.
Re: Creating a Blog
If you don't find a host, I can host the blog on my server for a fee of course (cheaper than most and much more reliable). I can also do the installation of wordpress or any other blog system.

I have seen it being used by companies as well....it's a great way to network your business.
btw has anyone here created a blog for professional use?
if so....I'd like to take a look at it or perhaps a template of some sort.
