Controversial adverts in Canadian newspapers offering ‘illegal’ sex selective IVF have sparked outrage.
The Washington Centre for Reproductive Medicine has created the ads with a picture of a young ethnic boy and girl in traditional Indian dress, under the heading ‘Create the family you want: Boy or girl’.
The Bellevue, Washington, clinic’s ad was published in the print edition of the weekly Indo-Canadian Voice paper, and on the publication’s website, despite the process of sex selection being illegal in Canada.
**A Canadian Medical Association Journal study, published on Monday, found that South Korean- and Indian-born women in Canada have an unusually high proportion of boys born as second babies.
**
It concluded that ‘couples originating from India may be more likely than Canadian-born couples to use prenatal sex determination and terminate a second or subsequent pregnancy if the fetus is female’.
This is unbelievable! And that advertisement? GIVE ME A BREAK! What were they thinking saying “balancing purposes?” And, IF there are Indian girls born, they’re apparently gonna be FULL BLOWN WHITE but the boy can still be brown because, you know, it’s a boy:rolleyes:!!!
I truly want to know the thought process of such educated folks. Who are all their sons going to marry, if an entire community starts “balancing” families?
uff.
