so i went to 2 grocery stores and could not find cream cheese. reason is that i dont know what to look for . all i saw was cream cheese spread, i bought that last time around and it was very salty and i want to use it for frosting. so i asked staff there but no body knows. i came home looked up on internet again and now i think cream cheese is named as soft cheese in store. i saw Philadelphia cheese , but i was looking for something that clealry says “cream cheese”.
so ladies please which cheese do u use in frosting and making cheese cake. is it in creamy consistency and would be in a jar or a bit solid and in paking like butter. only cheese that i buy is shreded for pizza and slices for my kids.

Philadelphia cheese is cream cheese, did it look something like this?

This is the cream cheese you use for cream cheese frosting and cheesecake, it is solid and can easily be whipped with a beater for frosting and cheesecake
Re: Cream Cheese
Yes, there is only cream cheese cream cheese lol. It either comes in a container or as a stick/bar shown above. I used that exact one shown above for cheese cake last time turned out great. Good luck with yours
Re: Cream Cheese
Can I have a simple n easy recipe for a cheese cake plz ladies :-)
Re: Cream Cheese
Here is a really simple recipe of cheesecake I recently made.
Crust/Bottom:
1 and 1/2 cups of graham crumbs
1/4 cup melted butter
Mix and press firmly into the bottom of the springform pan (9-9.5")
Filling:
4 pkg (250g each) cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 cup sour cream
4 eggs
1Tbsp vanilla ( i didnt use any - they all have alcohol)
Beat cream cheese until soft, add sugar, sour cream and beat it together, lastly add eggs one at a time mixing in between.
Pour into the pan.
Bake at 350F for 50-60 mins or until sides are set (slightly brown) but middle is wobbly. Don’t over bake will get a tear.
Set overnight
Strawberry Sauce:
(it was more of a jam consistency once it was cool)
1 cup mashed strawberries
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp cornstarch
1/3 cup water
Mix sugar and cornstarch in a small saucepan
Stir in water and strawberries
Cook while stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and boils.
Boil and Stir for 1 min.
Cool thoroughly before spreading over cheesecake.
I personally dont like very sweet cakes so I did not use all of the sauce made with the recipe above (only used about a 3rd but rest can be used as jam).
