Yea but the cars don't blow up to often.
Re: Crazy Car Crash in Abu Dhabi
a fuel tanker must have been among the pile up
Re: Crazy Car Crash in Abu Dhabi
While the name "World Affairs" is certainly generic enough, that this forum is under "Politics and Religion" is because it is dedicated to discussions on political and religious issues. Now, unless you tell me that this terrible and massive accident came about as a result of a evil spirit's black spell or as part of a big political protest against the Emir of Abu Dhabi, I fail to see why this is in "World Affairs" forum. May be it should be moved to "General" or one of the Image Gallery forums to get more exposure and appropriate indexing.
My sympathies to all those who were affected by this accident.
Re: Crazy Car Crash in Abu Dhabi
at these speeds the positioning of the fuel tank under rear boot becomes a liability and if at the same time a piece of metal is rubbing against the ground close by....your toast
Re: Crazy Car Crash in Abu Dhabi
Very sad indeed.
Three dead and 277 injured in enormous 100-car pile-up
Three people were killed and 277 injured in the United Arab Emirates yesterday when up to 100 cars collided in thick fog in what could be the country’s biggest traffic accident, police said.
Up to 40 cars burned in the pile-up during the morning rush hour on the main motorway between the UAE trade hub of Dubai and the capital Abu Dhabi, police said. So many cars were hit that police had yet to count them all.

Okay so here is the religious spin on this:
I think it appropriate to consider this crash as a metaphor. vroom is so correct when he says:
1) pile up due to fog
2) happens often
The question to ask is why does it happen often? And what caused this specific incident?
Well we would have thought that people maintain a certain distance and slow down due to fog, have their lights on, etc. However, in this case people are breaking many rules.
The fog has not in the slightest brought about a sense of caution in any of these drivers. The short sightedness is a metaphor for those people who are concerned with 'the now' and less with what the afterlife brings. The crash is the sheep like frenzy these people are doing throwing themselves into a melting pot.
The speed is a metaphor of the affect that Shaitan wants from us. To do without evaluation and caution is not Islamic nor wise.
It happens often ... it means there is no measure currently established for rectifying this, in fact the newspapers hide the truth and people are not any wiser. It is the metaphor of 'kufr' to hide the truth thus letting people continue in their misguidance.
This crash is in World Affairs because it happened in Abu Dhabi and for those who reflect it has every implication on politics and religion ... the next question to ask is what will Abu Dhabi do to prevent this from happening again?
This crash is only a few days old for those who asked, hundereds were injured and a few lost their lives.
