I went to the crash site yesterday, almost after 8 months of the incident and found a piece of my vehicles rear gaurd. Here are the pics taken a few days after the crash and copied from the accident report.

This view is looking in the direction the vehicle was travelling. The overall distance to the point in which the barrier parted is 34 metres. No evidence of the vehicle brakes being utilized.

This view is looking back up the road on which the vehicle was coming. There is a long steady bend on this particular section of highway. The vehicle came to rest facing the other way.

This view is looking back up at the damaged crash barrier which went through the driver’s side of the vehicle. There is approx 34 metres of damaged barrier. The 15 meter long piece that you see at the bottom of the picture (not the bent one) was sticking out of the tail gate and had to be cut to free the vehicle.

The vehicle came to rest just at the end of the bent section of crash barrier. The total distance travelled from the first point of barrier contact to the position the vehicle stopped was approx 90 metres.

These two pictures indicate the crash barriers point of entry into the engine compartment. The vehicle is in the junk yard with other banged up vehicles.

This shows the crash barrier protruding from the tail gate after cutting its way through the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The picture shows the point at which the crash barrier entered the passenger compartment at the driver’s side of the vehicle. This was right at the foot pedals. Man these air bags are nasty things. My whole right side was immovable for some weeks.

A close up view of the barrier at the point of entry on the driver’s side. The barrier hit my feet with such force that my seat belt broke and I was lifted up in the air for a fraction of a second. Luckily the barrier passed under me with in that fraction and entered the back rest of the seat at waist height.

As the barriers entered the driver’s side it lifted the driver’s seat from its mountings and continued through the vehicle. The driver’s seat came to rest with yours truly on top of the crash barrier which was on top of the rear seat. The barrier entered the back rest of the rear seat at the head rest. The dink in the barrier right next to the hard hat is probably my ass print.haha.
You have a lot to be thankful for. How are your feet now? I remember you couldn't walk a while back and you posted in family section asking for tips for soothing feet.

Seher and SadiaB, it happened due to lack of sleep. I am a lot better now, I do start limping by the end of each day due to pain, but at least I am not dependent on any one for doing things. It will probably take a few more months before things are normal.
That looks nasty, I was in a car accident myself a few years back. Car was total loss but miraculously (alhamdulillah) we didn't have any injuries. Just a whiplash :-)
Yes Shinoo, all by myself, I was driving back from a client's facility. If you look at the surroundings you will notice that there was nothing close by. I was lucky that I had enough presence of mind to grab the cell phone when I threw myself out of the vehicle and it did not slip when I was rolling on the ground. If it had then there was no way I could have gone back and grabbed it, my right side was completely paralyzed and my legs were twisted at a very un-natural angle and I knew I could not move. The cell phone was in range and I managed to call my office. I had several bad cuts and was bleeding very hard. It was almost an hour and a half before help reached and by that time I had lost a lot of blood. The news spread at the office and I recieved probably 20/25 calls during this time, which kind of helped me as I did not go into shock because I was trying to keep my senses and answer all the questions. I even took one official call and gave the cient some technical info that he was looking for. Most of the time, though I was thinking weather I will have to break my fast or can I hold on for another few hours. My throat was totally dry and I could see one bottle of water that had fallen out of the vehicle, but I couln't reach it. Ah well, it was an experience and I have learned a good lesson, I think.
Without sounding too macho, yes there was a lot of pain but I, alhamdolillah, I have a lot of tolerence. As I was trying to move/crawl in every possible way to reach to something that I can tie on my thigh to stop bleeding it did hurt a lot. The only working part was my left hand, and no matter how hard I tried I just was not able o move. Even then at the time, I never thought about what had actually happened, I was thinking of how this accident will stop me from going home, I was booked to leave in 2 days, and how will it effect my promotion in April as operational safety is part of my responsibilities.
The only time I had a feeling of doom was when 2 people walked upto me and then left without saying anything. That was when I realized that I looked pretty bad and these guys think that I am beyond hope and are afraid to get caught with police enquiries and such. I never shouted for them to come back or help me as I somehow felt sorry for their fear and knew that help will be arriving soon.
I guess Allah gives you extra strength when you are in such situations.
