Cramps while on birth control pills.

Hello ladies,

So i have few questions to figure out if i should see a doctor or if this is normal. I have been taking one-a -day birth control pills for almost 1 ½ years now. My periods have never been regular, so once i started taking the pill, periods were actually on time…BUT they have been extremely light (half a day cycle…seriously.) I spoke to my OB and she said since I had a lot of milk production for the 8 months i breastfeed LO, my uterus walls was very thin hence the light period and nothing to worry about. No issues with this.
Issue 1 is i have started to skip months (only has happened twice in the last 6 months…where i skipped a whole cycle.)
***issue 2, my cramps and pains are getting worse and worse each month. This last time I couldn’t even sleep because of the cramps and had to up the pain killers. It has never been this bad and this too only started about 6 months ago. I never use to have cramps, even before the birth control. I always had back pain or leg pains. But now I have cramps, and back pain.

I always thought that birth control is supposed to reduce the pain and regulate the cycle. So what’s going on with mine? Is this normal? My next check-up isn’t for another 6 months…should I wait?
Currenlty i have no stress to cause this change.

Re: Cramps while on birth control pills.

Its not normal. Make an appointment and see your doctor ASAP. Definitely don’t wait six months. Its possible that you need to switch the brand of pill.

Re: Cramps while on birth control pills.

i have never had bad cramps with ocp, its usually less with pills than it is without them. you should see ob/gyn soon to rule out any problems like endometriosis or fibroids which can cause very painful cramps.

Re: Cramps while on birth control pills.
