Yesterday the entertaining Mr. Cramer laid down the gauntlet and declared that he does not care for contrarians. By making that statement he took a diammetrically opposite view of Buffett Lynch Graham and other savvy value investors. It has been reported that this stance has riled up one Gopi.
In this thread our staff will state Mr. Cramer’s positions and evaluate their (lack of) effectiveness.
Re: Cramer vs. Contrarian
To Mr. Cramers credit he follows his advice and ends up on the wrong side of each call on a consistent basis. Case in point - raboit 3-4 weeks ago when sno500 reabched a local high ofc1380 hexwas a big bull ( pun may be intended). He chided the bears and asked them to get on board. Of course market tanked to 1269 at which point he became bearishness. The market of course moved opposite and rose to about 1310. He recommended folks stick only to us dividend stocks. He railed against contrarians. Of course market shot up - will wait to see what he comes up with.
Re: Cramer vs. Contrarian
Today Mr Cramer opined that 40% of us stocks overvalued 20% he never cared about. So he likes 40% of us stocks. This from the same guy who reprimanded the bears when Snp500 was higher at 1382!
Forgot to mention last week he was touting stocks that hit 52 week high - saying they have done well - so will continue to do well.
Re: Cramer vs. Contrarian
True to form our friend mentioned if " Greece continues on this path and Germany cooperates there will be more (up) days like this"
This from the same person who just 2-3 days ago was bearishness on Europe.
Today oracle in the morning was up 6%. Last 2-3 months he has heen negative on Tech. Today AFTER the big move up he was bullish on oracle and on Tech. He missed the large move up in Tech.
While this thread title was based on him not liking the contrarian approach he remains an excellent contrarian indicator.
Re: Cramer vs. Contrarian
In this mother of mismatchesCramer on Thursday June 28 asked people to stay away from technology. Sure enough today the tech-heavy Nasdaq was up 3%.
Just a note to our readers - Cramers initial position will be mentioned here. His almost inevitable opposite position will be stated in the related Cramer vs Cramer thread.

Re: Cramer vs. Contrarian
The irrepressible Cramer- who is always right even when he is wrong- reminds me of a debator in this forum. But I digress.
As always he is best at telling us what has happened. Knocking down Apple after a 25 pt drop knocking Exxon after a drop Wednesday being for and against a stock almost simultaneously.
