Cradle cap

My two month old had cradle cap that took two weeks to go away but it seems to be reappearing… What do I do?

I apply olive oil… Leave it for a while and then use a soft baby brush to take it off . Any other suggestions?

Re: Cradle cap

DO NOT apply olive oil. Olive oil is super warm and affects the roots of hair, weakens them, in babies.

Re: Cradle cap

Really I thought olive oil is good for babies… Everyone recommended it even the midwives!!!

So what should I apply then?

Re: Cradle cap

u can try the milder oils, mustard, almond etc.

Re: Cradle cap

I thought so too but I was told otherwise. Apparently babies have super fine hair and roots aren’t that strong yet

Re: Cradle cap

mustard oil is super strong!

Pure coconut oil might help. It’s the first time i’m hearing olive oil is bad for babies =/

Re: Cradle cap

^ s punk, I was told by elders as it is super warm apparently. A friend’s baby daughter was having hair growth issues and she switched from olive oil to almond oil and things got better and she told me it was the olive oil too strong etc.

I use almond anyway for my baby as it is enriching for the brain too

Cradle cap

To the best of my knowledge, and what I experienced with all 3 of my children, all babies have hair fall out… Then it grows back, because the texture of your newborn baby’s hair may be the same texture as he/she gets older…I’ve never heard to avoid olive oil or that it can be detrimental…

Cradle cap will eventually clear up, just continue using the oil of your choice and the baby comb to remove it

Re: Cradle cap

My MIL told me to apply glycerine and comb it out gently… I did it for two days and my baby’s head is all clear!!! Don’t know if it was the glycerine that did the trick or it cleared on it own but her hair is all nice and shiny now

Re: Cradle cap

used vaseline…
