Re: Coversion of Grades/Percentage to CGPA

I think u will need to convert it manually based on the university’s grading system. For example, in some universities grading policy 87%+ is GPA 4, while in other it could be as high as 94%+.

Similarly some universities may grade u GPA 3 from 80-90% while other may grade u as 3 from 80-85% & 3.5 from 86-90%.

U will need to check that on case by case basis.

:bravo:

Re: Coversion of Grade/% to GPA

From what I know, an Upper Second Class Honors is usually around a 3.1 ~ 3.2 CGPA.

Check these links - Hope they help:

Re: Coversion of Grades/Percentage to CGPA

^ couldn't have said it better. Every school has its own grading scale. You would have to ask them.

Re: Coversion of Grades/Percentage to CGPA

ALthough all Universities have their own system, but unless the scale of reporting used is the same standard, your host University will not entertain manual changes on a University-by-University basis. They will either expect you to provide a certified copy of your grades in their expected format or they'll use a conversion scale that they have access to.

Re: Coversion of Grades/Percentage to CGPA

All universities follow a well-defined conversion mechanism for transfer students. For local courses, teachers can alter this definition whenever desired. Like university states that 85%+ is an A, but a teacher can make it 90% or 80% for a specific course. It is sometimes known as curve.

Re: Coversion of Grades/Percentage to CGPA

and yet it isn’t really a “curve” or a “bell”. but merely a “shift”

Off-Topic I know…

Re: Coversion of Grades/Percentage to CGPA

.:)

Re: Coversion of Grades/Percentage to CGPA

^ yeah… most people “call” it a curve without realizing what that the exams almost never follow a representative Gaussian Curve, and the Prof. just ends up shifting the entire class’s grades by using some cut-off. Shhh… don’t tell no one!

what?

:k:

Good Luck…

Re: Coversion of Grades/Percentage to CGPA

From my own research, a low 2:1 is about a 3.0 GPA, and a high 2:1 is about a 3.6-3.7 GPA.

By the way, for non-Brits wondering about this:

1st Class Degree (1) is greater than or equal to 70%
Upper Second Class Degree (2:1) is 60-70%
Lower Second Class Degree (2:2) is 50-60%
Third Class Degree (3) is 40-50%
Pass (P) = 35% to 40%

Typically , 10% or less of students at an educational institute get a First Class Degree. Uk university exams are apparently more difficult than elsewhere, but compensated for with lower grade boundaries.

Re: Coversion of Grades/Percentage to CGPA

Isnt there an organziatin where I can officially get my grades evaluated from, and get the conversion done.

The univ I am applying to just wants some sort of authentic proof , as to what my GPA is. They dont have ne system of there own to evaluate.
