If you arent hijabi, why would cover your head with a dupatta? Dupattas are usually see through so it kind of defeats the purpose, doesnt it?
Covering your chest should be fine.
How could a see through dupatta which is not good to cover head be good to cover chest. lol
See throught Dupatta is basically Islam aur parday ka mazaq ur'ana hai.
I think I'm understanding what you are saying
and for your question, yes I cover my head when we have non-mehram guests at home even if I dont wear hijaab on daily basic. I dont think I do it from an Islamic POV, but rather it is a cultural thing .. Maybe something with respect? .. Well really I've never thought about it .. Its something that comes naturally to me when we have male guests at home that we cover over the head with the dupatta .. Actually I do it infront of my grandpa.. as well as some elder uncles and some uncles of my mum .. so nothing to do with na-mehram issue ..
Hijaab is not a cultural thing. It's an order from Allah to obey.
Yes of course the father-in-law is mahrem! Even if you get divorced or your husband dies, your FIL is still your mahrem BILs are not mahrem
New Islam is inventing here.
Midnight inventer can you please give info from quran and hadees that FATHER IN LAW is Mahram. and other thing you said.
Personally..I find it silly for girls to cover their head in front of their fathers and brothers and uncles the same way they would cover in front of non-mahrem men!! Doesnt it make your relationship with your father sooo formal if you are covering your head in front of him?
Its not silly if you want to then you can do it.
i dont cover my head in front of dad/bro/husband/cousin/uncles.....
and as for the parties and weddings well we have separete places for male and females..... so covering head is required for us......
You have to cover your head in front of cousin and uncles except Chacha and Mama.
In parties where males and females are seperate and you cover your head there. What is the reason behind this?
