Really? I'd always just assumed it was a sunnah (though I don't do it myself)
But are you suggesting that it might even be bida?

Covering your head is a sign of modesty and humility. This practice exists in many religions besides Islam.
Just wear something light and small.
Avoid the big rag that Araabs put on their head. That for sure is a "brain-destroyer" and "Demagh Choos".
Thank you Mulla Antiobl for you (Fatwa) opinion, jazak allah. Azizi Mullah, can you explain about the ammam worn by the messenger (PBUH)?
Minime : Antibol prolly doesn't realize that prophet Mohammed(saw) was an arab, he wore a beard and wore an ammamah otherwise he would not be making fun of people who follow this sunnah.
Or
Is he really one of those who does not believe in the sunnah ?

Ibn Umar (R.A.) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) wore a white hat. (Tabarani — Allama Suyuti has classified this Hadith as highly authentic: see Sirajul Muneer; v.4, pg.112).
It is written in Fataawa Thunaaiyya vol. 1, pg. 525), and in the Fatawaa of the Ahle Hadith Scholars (vol. 4 pg.291) that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) always used to keep his mubarak head covered during salaah. In the same books it is also mentioned that to intentionally remove the headgear (hat) and perform salaah bare-headed is contrary to the sunnah. (vol. 1, pg.523.)
- Aaisha (Radhiallaahu Anha) mentions that when on journey, Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) would wear a Topi with ear-flaps. While at home, he would wear a Syrian Topi. (Akhlaaqun-Nani pg.104)
- Ibn Umar (Radhiallaahu Anhu) says, Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) would wear a white Topi. (Tabrani; Majma-uz-zawaaid vol.5 pg.21)
- Habib ibn Salih (Radhiallaahu Anhu) narrates that when Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) would enter the toilet, he wore shoes and covered his head. (Bayhaqi vol.1 pg.96)
- Waail ibn Hujr (Radhiallaahu Anhu) mentions that he performed Salaat with Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) and the Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum) who were wearing barnases (a type of topi or garment with a hood). (ibn Khuzayma pg.233)

Re: Re: covering head in salaah/reading qur’aan
do you even believe in allah and his rasul :saw:? i swear to Allah that your words seems like you deny allah and his rasul :saw: although i do not know what is in your heart.
the rasul :saw: wore an amama, and you call it “brain destroyer”…astagfurullah.
i seek refuge with allah from mocking the rasul :saw:.
back on the topic..it is sunnah but sheikh al munajjid has said that it is not an essential sunnah as rasul :saw: didnt order any one to wear anything on their heads, so it can be left with out consequence. wallah o alam
thank you people.
I think I'll go with Sheikh Al-Munjjid (may Allah preserve him).
This Dar ul-Uloom is local. ![]()
Long article I’ll read it after supper.

*Messenger PBUH was the most truthful, most trustworthy, and most tolerant man. * Equating him with a mad Araab is simply a travesty.
For Him, character was of utmost importance and he shunned romp, pomp, and stomp in the name of religion.
Modern Araab MAToos have nothing in common with the Messenger PBUH. 1400 years have completely wiped out goodness of Islam from the Arabian Peninsula. What we have now is the ruthless, MAToo terrorists killing and beheading in the name of a peaceful religion called Islam (meaning peace).
You can't claim to be pious just because your gran-pappie was a good person. *You have to practice good deeds, be kind and righteous to fellow human being. Only then you can be a pious person. *
It is funny that people jump up and down in the name of Araab Demagh Choos, while beheading unarmed Pakistanis goes unnoticed.
Khuda Hafiz
Antibol : Not all arabs are as you put it. I think that everyone here knows that there are bad people everywhere and by you incessantly repeating the same words in every post is rather childish, not to mention unislamic.
Leave all judgement to Allah(swt).
WaSalaam
If religion is "what you believe in" then he(PBUH) for sure shuned romp, pomp and stomp in the name of religion. But I don’t see you doing that in what you believe. Rather, I see the opposite, I see you romp pomp and stomp in what you believe. As you blame your Mullah's who judge other without any impunity, aren’t you doing the same?
Have you been to everyone’s heart to say that Islam is wiped out from the Arabian Peninsula, and the goodness is gone? So by bashing and making fun of a whole nation or group of people, you think you are doing service to Islam (Which by the way means Submission and not peace).
and then again you have this mindset that if someone is pointing out a fault on one side must belong to the other side....this is pretty lame.
Folks, why are you so easily diverted? The topic is head cover for men. Please try to stick to the topic and provide your opinions. If you really want, create a new thread and have a full wrestling match with antiobl in there, instead of taking the bait in every thread.

Tandy you are losing your cool again. This is what I said about the topic. Read!

Al-Munajjid ka fatwa theek hai, gel nahein kharaab hogi.
i have read a hadith which says that the prophet (saw) kept his amaama in front of him while praying, i.e. it was not on his head....
and there is no 'order' in any hadith that i have read that one must cover his head while praying....
Re: covering head in salaah/reading qur'aan
^ what about covering of the arms i.e. performing salah in a half-sleeve shirt (as I do this myself during summer months)?
