Recipe after recipe found from the net has resulted in red-orange strands. I’m looking for darker coverage. Anyone had any success, recipes, tips, methods without using chemicals causing an allergic reaction?
Thanks!

Re: Covering Greys with Mehendi
yes.....I have an allergy to hair colour so I have no options except mehndi.
if you do a two step process with mehndi and indigo, you can get almost black.
look it up. lots of info online if you google this.

Sharpie?
kidding :p
Re: Covering Greys with Mehendi
I have black hair with a few strands of white that I’ve had since high school. I’ve used the indigo henna block from Lush and it makes black hair even blacker. It’s a bit messay…okay reallllyy messy…but you can try that. I’m thinking of buying some again myself…![]()
On the nutritional front…I have heard that eating a handful of black sesame seeds…or unsulfphured blackstrap molasses can (over time) reverse grey hair to original color. But I have not tried it though; I’ve only come across a few online testimonials.

indigo? are y’all saying she’s going grey because of her jeans? ![]()
Re: Covering Greys with Mehendi
I've heard about ground coffee being added to mehndi to achieve a nice color, not sure what quantity or if it actually even works or not.

it doesn't give people the really, really dark almost black that they're looking for.
in fact, sometimes it does nothing at all.
Re: Covering Greys with Mehendi
I have experimented with adding in indigo powder. Same results. The only thing I can think of is maybe not adding in enough?
I'm going to give those Lush henna bricks a try.
Thanks ladies!

Don't add the Indigo powder.
Do the two step process.
Henna first, rinse and then do Indigo on it's own.

because black mehndi still has chemicals in it and my skin still reacts.
