Thank you for directing me to the existing thread, just wanted to add that if you are going to do it go see a genetic councillor they can do testing and tell you if you are at an increased risk, each one of us have benign genetic defects, but in some cases you can amplify it by the union of two people sharing the same genetic defect..in many cases the blood test may tell you nothing to worry about or they also recommend that you have the embryo checked for possible defects, It is very cruel to the child if he ends up with a very poor quality life..Christianity allowed cousin union also but they moved away from it…actually contrary to some posters belief the number of cousin marriages in Pakistan is on the rise.

but wont it be so awkward to bring a cousin to a genetic counselor and see what the odds are for your child to get a genetic disease? what if the answer is that yes your child may be affected by a disorder? and the couple likes each other more than just as cousins??? will they not marry? a lot of decisions to be done.
