ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Wednesday issued notices to the secretary Interior, Capital Development Authority and chief commissioner, Islamabad, on contempt application of non-implementation of the apex court 2007 judgment in Lal Masjid incident.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard suo moto case of Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa, along with a contempt petition filed by Maulana Abdul Aziz.

Appearing on notice, Iftikhar Hussain Gilani, counsel for Wafaqul Madaris, told the bench that despite its order, the Federal Government had not complied with the courtís order on Lal Masjid incident.

The deputy attorney general told the court that the Jamia Hafsa administration was entered into an agreement with the Federal Government in December 2011. In view of that contract, the government gave a 20 kanal plot for Jamia Hafza in H-11.

Iftikhar Gilani, however, submitted that though the government had allotted land in H-11 but was not fulfilling its commitment to construct madrassa on it in view of the courtís 2007 judgment.

He contended that the CDA was not allowing Lal Masjidís administration to construct the madrassa itself. The court, however, suggested the CDA to either comply with the court’s order or fulfill the commitment made with Lal Masjidís administration. The court also expressed concern that despite its order, given five years ago, the relevant authorities are not complying with it.The court also decided to issue notices to the respondents mentioned in the contempt of court application, filed by Tariq Asad, counsel for Maulana Abdul Aziz and Umm-e-Hassan.

Tariq Asad recalled that the apex court in its 2007 orders had directed the Federal Government to pay salaries to the teachers of Jamia Fareedia; however, the government did not comply with the court’s order.

He also stated that the CDA is also creating hindrance in the construction of Jamia Hafsa and not complying with the courtís order.Later, the court adjourned the hearing till May 8.

Re: Court protecting terrorists?

Why did govt enter into a contract with them in the 1st place?

Re: Court protecting terrorists?

Because government is them, that’s why! :hoonh: We have supports of religious extremism everywhere from the (top-most level) military to (top level) bureaucracy, (mid level) media, (lower level) judiciary, and well what else remains. They will always support and sympathize with those who do such stuff in the name or religion.
