Court orders facebook block in Pak

Lets check constitution first before we drag our knives out against judiciary.

Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak

Pakistan as country has every right to block sites that publish material declared illegal in Pakistan, though personally, i am not comfortable with Pakistan being the only one among all muslim countries doing it. It just singles us out.

Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak

just block the internet and get done with it. the same specificity that applies to the facebook/youtube/wikipedia ban (somewhere on facebook/youtube/wikipedia there is a group that is putting up pictures of the Prophet) applies to Internet in general.. somewhere on the internet there are hundreds of thousands of websites with anti-Islamic material.

BAN THE INTERNET!

Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak

in answer to people who are continuously remarking that this is indeed a ridiculous measure by LHC on banning FB and YouTube, advocates of rights to freedom and those who said ignore these people and as to those who said they don't understand why Pakistanis are creating such a hype over this matter:

  1. The Holy Prophet (SAW)'s Hadith about trying to stop an evil in society by force or verbally or even if you are unable to do so know that it is wrong by HEART. That is the lowest status of Imaan (faith)

  2. And it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them. Indeed Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together

Surah Al-Nisā' 4:140

Refrain from being where obvious ridiculing and degradation of our own religion and Islamic values is being done. That's the least we could have done.

I truly appreciate the decision on banning Facebook. Even if Pakistan has not much impact on revenues generated by FB...even a cent not earned would be deemed appreciable in the eyes of Allah. Can't we do this much for someone (SAW) who used to stay up all night on prayer mat..praying for the goodness and forgiveness of his Ummah!

:)

Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak

I think it's horrible that they allowed Islam to be insulted and didn't do anythign about it. I plan to deactivate my account and would strongly advice my family members as well because this is just not acceptable.

Is the Prophet sacred to Pakistanis only? If not then why must the LHC ban Facebook and other websites while the other 50 or so Muslim majority states, including Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, look the other way? Pakistanis could have gotten their message across in a more civilized manner by joining the Facebook group opposing the one calling for cartoons. Or boycotting Facebook. The latter perhaps is too much to ask because few people waxing lyrical against Facebook will deactivate their account.

The only thing LHC's decision will achieve, besides of course making Pakistan once again a laughing stock in the international community, is to give the cartoon campaign lots of coveted publicity. Thanks to the coverage of the ban, those who had not heard of the day have become suddenly very interested in the how the whole thing unfolds. I won't be surprised at all if the not so judicious decision of the LHC engenders many more “blasphemous” campaigns.

Why stop at the Internet?

Why not ban computers in which these images are shown.

BAN all COMPUTERS.

Pakistanis who are muslims would not like to be a part of system that deliberately promotes blashphemy.cant get more clear and cant get more civilized.
if u can pls elaborate the difference between civilized and more civilized manner.

i wish these idiots understand... :(

Reason Magazine officially declare 20th may the Draw Muhammad (PBUH) Day ... this isall happening just because of these beard-monkeys in Pakistan - no one know about this group and draw day two weeks ago. .but now every f***king person on planet earth knows.

Now doob marein sub chulo barh pani mein ..

Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak

facebook sucks it should be banned permanently.

I’m surprised that these people even know facebook, especially the second last person on the right who has both arms up in protest.

It is an utterly useless and counter productive gesture. It will prompt more people to visit those pages to see what all the fuss is about and possibly more contestants in the compition.

Nobody is arguing about the stupidity of such a compition but lets not help the idiots in thier cause to defame and insult the Prophet(saw). I doubt Pakistan is going to ban it permanantly. Then the present ban can be seen as an attempt to prevent people from visiting those pages. This begs the question why a populace outraged at the contents would be visiting those pages at all.

Chopra :lajawab: what a logical thinking you showed .i’m impressed …
Also, if you ve terrors in the streets, you don’t need to left you home, just close the doors of ur home and tuen the channel Carton Network
