Countries in the Middle East

Please share your experiences of countries you have visited in the Middle East. After visiting Dubai I hope to visit other counties in the Middle East, Saudi being on the top of the priority list insha allah. Other places I intend to visit include Sharjah, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.

Re: Countries in the Middle East

There is nothing to see in Saudi other than Mecca and Medina.

Re: Countries in the Middle East

If you really want to go to Saudi Arabia, here are some places (I last went to KSA in 1988, so this information might be rotten).

1) Caves of Hafoof.

&

2) Turned over city near Tabook (you need permission to go there, its the city of Loot, Hazrat Loot left this city when Angles turned it up side down, you will still see the ruins, if they are still there, I have seen them 20 years ago).

Apart from that there are several places to see between the two cities of Bureda & Qaseem, but I dont know if those places still exist.

Obviously if u are going there, then dont miss loads of places around Makkah & Madina.

Re: Countries in the Middle East

If you are going to Jordon, then visit a small village near Aman, the village is called Ribba. If you know about "Ishaab-e-Kahaf" they slept in a cave near that village. There is nothing special to see in that village though but some effects of that cave existed until 1982 when I went there.

Re: Countries in the Middle East

Najim, you have been to or lived in hofuf?

Re: Countries in the Middle East

don't go to Sharjah- no offence to anyone residing there (thepeople are nice) but there is nothing to see.

Re: Countries in the Middle East

Yes I have been to Hafoof few times, but as I said it was 1988 when I last went to the trip of whole Saudi Arabia. I never got a chance to visit that land after that.

Re: Countries in the Middle East

Cool. Yeah I have been there too.

Re: Countries in the Middle East

Sharjah is a city in U.A.E. Since you have visited Dubai ( which is also a city of U.A.E. ) so its kinda strange you didn’t visit Sharjah. Nothing much to see there but its OK place to visit.

Oman would be a good destination to visit.

Re: Countries in the Middle East

^ Dubai is a big city itself, just had a few days stay so didn't get to visit Sharjah, Might include this the next time i'm in dubai, so how long does it take to get to sharjah by car/plane from dubai?

Re: Countries in the Middle East

TDW and Najim, thanks guys, Yeah Jordon is another country i'd like to visit.

Re: Countries in the Middle East

cool ...good u didnt see Sharjah, in my view theres nothing to see. Its around an hour from where we stayed which was on the opposite side. From Bur Dubai, it would prbs be like 30-45 mins dpending on traffic if you were to travel by car?

Re: Countries in the Middle East

I have visited a few countries in the middle east including Yemen, Qatar, Oman, Saudi, and U.A.E. Scenically, Oman offers a lot. Just drive from Muscat to Salalah and you will be amazed by the changes in landscape. People here are the friendliest in the whole of Middle East.

Yemen is a very historic place. Security is an issue there, though. The very old Qheen Sheeba palace is still there. Sanaa has a wonderful weather year round, as it is perched on top of a plateau. You can come down the chilly plateau into the harsh and hot desert in a matter of an hour. Really amazing. Close to Sanaa is the Marib city. It is a very old city and I have heard that it is even mentioned in Koran.
