Ever since Abdul Qadir left Cricket, and PCB didn’t select Mushtaq Ahmed in the team’s squad, Saqlain Mushtaq is the only reliable spinner, who can turn the match around.

I’ve always admired Saqi, consider him as a ‘backbone’ of our side. He’s the one who takes out Middle order batsmen.

It would be lovely if he gets his 300 wicket in the World Cup. Chances are slim, anyway, but hope for the best.

InshAllah

Saqi is the golden pawn of pakistan…this would have proved itself clearly if they played him against aussies and he would have made short work of that goof symonds. He has full potential to go through any lineup. :k:

inshallah WC mai hi hongi

At the rate Wasim is going now, he might just end up taking most of the wickets and Saqi won't even get to 290. I don't think its such a big deal as Wasim's 500 milestone, Saqi will still play for the team for the next 3 or 4 years.

As Saqlain took a wicket against Namibia, therefore, he has now total 286 wickets in ODI.

14 more to go.

:hula:

If he is given a chance in WC, he will inshallah reach 300+ wickets. Good luck to Saqi & Wasim.

what a great spinnet he is:k:

yeah u r right but wasim alwayz will not b lucky so there will b chancez of other bowlerz

This man has taken wickets in such a rapid pace. He already has 286, and these are, considering the fact that he's not played much cricket in the last yr. and his boiwling has diminished quite a bit. Lets hope he gets back his form and becomes a useful backup bowler to the pace trio (its more of a pace dual!). ;)

assalamolaikum :jhanda:

mirpuri aka dream here

i understand how there is a hype about saqi but look at the unfairness of the pcb of not picking mushtaq ahmed (mushi) anymore for the national side why because the team won’t play 2 spinners together so waht mushi is still preforming on the domestic level he should be considered.

he is the best leg spinner after the great abdul qadir that pakistani cricket has seen and even players like former aussie test captain taylor realise his importance, tayls’ has said the following>>>>>>>

“he is one hell of a spinner of a ball and i found it difficult facing him during my playing days”

mushi recently spoke to a british based newspaper and then bbc.co.uk and said: “i finished the highest wicket taker in the last pakistani domestic season 2002/2003 and still i am not even considered for selection> WHY?”

why is that pcb snubbs the best players it has in the country and doesn’t realise how it plays with their careers… just shocking

Little Mushy should have been in the team over a year ago. Its mind boggling that he isent playing, especially when Saqlain was busy prefering Surrey to Pakistan. Even then Wasim Bari and his group of clowns chose Arshad Khan and Shoaib Malik ahead of Mushy...which is ridiculous.

Maybe we should go to the PCB Site on Cricinfo and bombard them with emails to bring Mushy back to the team.

he was a good bowler, the best in the world i'd say, but for the past couple of years or more, he's been quite ordinary....

Two more wickets into Saqlain's account, which now stands at 288. :)

12 more to go. :)

exactly ! A very ordinary "Off spinner". All he does is whine on the field and yell at the fielders when some mishaps occur! He is not anymore a class bowler.
Why do you guys think he is not an automatic selection anymore? :)

well Saqlain isnt been the same when he came in, so he ahs to improvise as time goes, n that is how u become a good bowler, uski jo mystery ball hai, ofcourse other teams will try to read him n play, like earleir reverse swing was like unplayeble but now they read it!!!

One more wicket in Saqi’s account, which now stands at 289. :hula:

11 more to go.

Keep it up, Saqi boy! :k:
