Could you avoid daily pill after diagnosed with type 2 diabetes #11 in A1C Test???

Re: Could you avoid daily pill after diagnosed with type 2 diabetes #11 in A1C Test??

I dont take white sugar in my tea or coffee, and try and avoid it altogether but obviously it is not possible. Dont cut out things all together, eating everything in moderation is fine. Doctor asked me not to eat grapes and mangoes but they happen to be my favorite fruits and I still eat them. Even mithai in moderation. The basic principle is eat whatever you want to but keep an eye on your blood sugar, if it stays within limits than no problem. My own experience is that sugar is less harmful than starchy foods like rice and potatoes. I have really cut down on rice and potatoes and other starchy food. Apply common sense approach and InshAllah your husband will be fine. Diabetes is an illness which is totally in your control, look after yourself and exercise reasonable control and things will be fine, otherwise it is a slippery slope with fatal consequences. I have seen people go onto insulin within a few years of being diabetic. That is something which the patient needs to avoid. has the doctor told your husband that one of the most important thing is to take care of his feet. That is where most of the problems arise and you will find that most diabetic patient end up having legs amputated because they have not looked after their feet. The nerves in the feet are very narrow and with the onset of diabetes if the sugar levels are high they get clogged up and you lose feelings in the feet with the result that if there are any cuts or injuries to the feet the person does not realise and eventually gangeriene sets in. Hope this helps.
