But the watermelon SHOULD be in the fridge. That’s where we put ours.
I’d be freaked out if the watermelon was in like…the oven. Or worse…floating in the swimming pool.

Watermelon is supposed to be in the fridge. A toy is commonly found under the sofa, and if it wasnt my kids toy, I would be suspicious - I would think, who came into my house, and who left this toy here?
The reason I am suspicious is because ginger is not usually found in bedrooms, or hidden behind the curtains. You can say all you want, would you be suspicious if you found this here, or that there, but its about
something not being in the right place. If I found the ginger in the kitchen, I would not have had a second thought, because that is where ginger belongs! If I found a sock in my windowsil, I would be annoyed
at whoever left it there, but I wouldnt be suspicious, because clothing items can be found in the bedroom.
Do you see my point? It is an unusal object to find in my bedroom. And on top of that, it was placed in such a place that is hard to reach. The sofa is infront of the window, and to reach the windowsill, one must
stand on the sofa, and make an effort to open the curtains, and place something on the windowsill.

Did you ask your mom, maybe she kept it there.
I know my MIL keeps an old soap piece in my wedding & valima dresses to keep them smelling fresh, imagine how would she feel if I went around saying she's doing black magic on me through soap :p

THAT would undoubtedly mean............according to them Puritans anyway............that the watermelon is a WITCH! Poor tarbooz.....to the gallows it is. Now if it sunk.........meh.......it's just a benign melon. It's a lose-lose situation, Pslims. Them Puritans were none too bright, it seems.

I'll tell you a little story.
We have this family staying with us - their house is being renovated. Last Tuesday, I was preparing Iftar and the phone rang. I went to answer it, still had an onion and knife in my hand. On the way back to the kitchen I got waylaid; one of those moments when everyone wants something at the exact same time, and so in the rush of getting it all done the onion in my hand got left behind; near the belongings of the matriarch of that family.
She decided it was some hocus pocus b*llocks and made a fuss about it. I was of course apologetic and respectful, but she wouldn't let it go. And so now, I feed her paranoia. Thus far, left a lemon under her pillow, mutter chants under my breath in her vicinity, initiate conversations about the powers of tabeez and **** like that. It has been a fun week.
Now, I won't tell you not to put any stock into black magic because what you believe in is not any of my business. I will say though: Don't be so fricking paranoid.

Our next step is to locate the witch that left the ginger in our demsel in distress's window. I shall bring the oil. And not just any oil, sweet crude with 1% sulfur. Gotta stay environment friendly while we burn the witches.
