Cough

Any desi toka for getting rid of cough, this cough is making my life very miserable, I cannot take medicine.

Re: Cough

Don't know about getting rid of it, but to soothe it try ginger water. Boil ginger in a pan with lid on, then let it cool without taking the lid off so that it retains all its properties. You can then reheat to drink.

Also for a persistent cough a clove is good - just place it in your mouth and it supresses it.

Re: Cough

Haldi wala milk?
I have never tried it myself - but I have heard people always recommend this?

Re: Cough

I don't know if its good if you have catarrh, as milk makes it worse

Re: Cough

Vicks vapo-rub is great. Over the counter Mucinex DM is a really good medicine. And Vicks shower tabs are lovely - you put this big tablet in the shower and when the water hits it, it makes a lovely vapor steam. Also, if the cough is caused by a post-nasal drip, use a neti-pot to clean out your sinuses.

All of these things are at-home...maybe you should see your doc too. There was once a guppy who ended up in the hospital with pneumonia-like illness! To best to check things out yeah?

Re: Cough

Neti-Pot is great. I had a horrible bout of the flu and whatnot for two months and was coughing the whole time. Things that helped me were:

Gargling with warm water to which salt was added.

I made this stuff to help with my cough:

3/4 cup water
3 tsp honey
pinch of salt
pinch of black pepper
1/2 tsp ginger

Warm it in the microwave for about 45 seconds to a minute and drink that.

Re: Cough

cough drops! My mouth is never without cough drops i have a cough!

Re: Cough

  1. Gargle from warm water.
  2. Drink tea without sugar and milk or with little milk and sugar.
  3. Avoid drinking milk.
  4. Rub vicks on the neck and warm a cotton or any cloth and cover the neck and keep doing many times the best thing.

Galay pay balgham kay jama ho janay ki wajah say khansi hoti hai so bulgham nikalnay kay liaay garam chaay achcha rehta hai is kay ilawa galay ko musalsal garam kapray say saiktay rehna.

Allah aap ko aur tamaam bemaron ko shifa ata farmaay ameen.

Re: Cough

Thank you all for the tips. I cannot take regular medicine or over the counter medicine as I am pregnant!
I tried ginger in boiling water, didnt help.
Honey with black pepper is also not helping.

Now I am rubbing baby vicks vapo rub on my throat and chest before going to bed and have a soaked towel in the bedroom before going to sleep.

Re: Cough

SaadiaB, try sucking on lozenges like Ricola. Also, ask your doc if it is safe to take Delsym. It is the best over the counter cough syrup and doesn't have any sedative but I'm not sure if it is safe during pregnancy.
