My observations have occurred in both UK and Canada.
Usually they are in the mid to late 50s. Their kids are often grown enough to take care of themselves (university level or sometimes even married in their own homes) and their own husbands are either uninterested in them or the couple may have grown apart or been mis-matched to begin with.
More like mid to late 40's when they are coming to terms with menopause. no?

the ones I've seen were definitely in their 50's but I suppose some could be at that stage earlier in their years.....who knows.

LOL@topic. There is this friendly cougar woman who is my fellow doctor at the hospital. She is Pakistani in her late 30s. She has asked me out to so many lunches and dinner knowing i am a married guy. I politely told her that only woman Hassan goes out is with his wife. Her come back:she tells me how we work in long shifts etc. and she is just harmlessly going out to grab lunch, dinner etc and talk.
Talk here there is fine i think but not sitting with other woman outside work. Just not me.
