One has the specs:
HP Pavilion DV5237 15.4"
Intel Core Duo, 2GB Memory
120 GB Hard Drive, DVD+/- RW DL
Remote Control, Windows XP
Media Center Edition
$999
Second one is:
Toshiba Satellite 14"
Intel Core Duo, 1GB Memory
100 GB Hard Drive, DVD+/- RW DL
XP Home
$899
My first question is has anyone heard of any negative reviews of these two laptops?
Second, in my opinion, for a $100 more you get more memory, more hard drive and more screen … isn’t HP a better deal?
Toshiba may have a better warranty situation than HP.
Check that kind of info before you commit.
Plus...big screen isn't always a benefit....for frequent travellers the larger screens are difficult to work with on a tray table.
My only beaf with HP/Compaq is that the one I currently have has a very loud fan and it also gets hot very fast. So its tough to keep it in the lap. Is it common among all laptops or do some burn more than others?
Muzna Baji, thanks for the heads up, I try to travel light and I have another laptop that is a little more compact.
Mine isn't lound, but it produces a lot of heat from the bottom. I haven't put mine on the lap since reading a thread some time back about risks of putting laptop down there. Instead I put it on my stomach when lying on bed and it actually feels pritty good especially when I'm feeling cold.
The HP has a Core Duo T2400 so if the Toshiba is a lesser Core Duo model then the $100 extra is definitely worth it considering the RAM and LCD and Disk and MCE etc..
Where u have found these prices.. i m looking for a laptop myself these days..
Look like sweet systems to me.
