Whats an sensible estimate for the cost of living in Manchester, UK for 1 year?
Factor in room (campus, or in a shared house), food, clothes, books, chilling out money…
I need estimates with a rough breakdown.
Thanks. ![]()

If that’s your way to propose girls to marry gentlemen living in UK, then I would only tell them to say NO.
depends on your way of living! an studio flate will cost you around £600 p/m. fee you can check on your Uni's website. socializing costs atleast 300 a month. I would say around 1200 p/m all togather.
PS: I am not sure about Manchester but when I was in london for studies my monthly expanses were around 1400 a month.. it could be cheaper in Manchester
Funny.

Obviously depends on the area - if you go to Rusholme (which is actually very close to the uni and city centre) you will find a lot of apnay with rentals - but I reckon the standard will be poor, generally speaking of course.
One bed flat with your own kitchen and bathroom prob £600 (as mentioned by Zombie) but you will have bills on top - gas/elec/phone/water/net etc but if you go for shared accom and take a room in a student house, you are prob looking at £65 p/w max.
Food isnt too expensive really and Im not sure what the socialising will cost - it all depends on your definition of the word - goray spend most of their money on getting into clubs and buying drinks. Hopefully that wont be a prob for u.
I'm willing to live in a house with a bunch of peeps.
I need this info to sort out my next years plans.

for everything else there is MasterCard!! ;)
well manchester cost much less than london. and 1400 per month is too high for a student even in london! so dont get scared.
you should be able to find room in a shared house from 40 to 60 pw max
or
one bedroom flat or studio. roughly about 400 - 550 per month.
just to get idea www.rightmove.co.uk for flats
or www.loot.co.uk for flat or house share
UK is expensive than USA
