Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

InshaAllah my SIL is getting married in the next few months and I just wanted to know around how much would the bride’s side of the family spend on having a decent wedding (including clothes, jewellry, hall, food, etc) in Pakistan.

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

how much can u afford? :p

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

Elisa, That question can go from one end of the specturm to the other...depends on where you have your food, how many outfits you buy, if you're going designger or not..WHAT and how much jewelery you're going to get..

I don't think there's any set ave..

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

I just want a rough idea of what a middle class pakistani family would spend in Pakistan.
If you know anyone who got married recently...do you know how much the bride's family spent?

(I'm not Pakistani, so wouldn't know how much of each thing families normally give)

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

Elisa, this thread might be useful for you. You will see posts by several people including myself mentioning their wedding costs.

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

Recently a cousin of mine had nikah at Creek club in Karachi. Food was Rs 300/ per head. Thats all I know.

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

My in-lawas did a second walima at avari towers..i believe it was 500/head

The thing with weddings...i think it's hard to get an ave...everyone spends different amounts and desires...

Especially in pakistan.

Hall vs. hotel vs tent in plot

Clothes...can range, designer or not how many outfits you're giving, shoes, etc...
Jewelery, amount size, etc.

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

Wow…

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

I think I’m gonna have a heart attack…Goodness where do normal Pakistanis have the money to pay for weddings like this???

I’m living abroad and not even middle class western people spend that much on a wedding…wouldn’t it be better to save it to buy a nice house???

I spoke with my cousins today and they said one jewellry set was over £3000…

I better start saving up for my kids weddings now!!!

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

Islamic marriages are supposed to be very simple. Why people spend so much money on weddings? What's wrong with a simple Nikah, simple dinner followed by a simple walima the next day.

Re: Cost of a Wedding in Pakistan

^^ Exactly..

Imagine with those huge amounts of money how many of your poor fellow Muslims you could help & how much it would be a help to you on the Day of Judgement..

**Allah says in the Holy Quran:

Do not waste your wealth senselessly.
Those who spend wastefully are the brothers of the devils; and the devil is ever ungrateful to his Lord.

(Surah Al-Isra - 26-27)

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

Eat and drink, but do not be excessive; verily, He does not love the extravagant.

(Surah Al-A'raf - 31)

Al Mughirah Bin Shu'bah reported that Allah's messanger said:

Allah verily hates three qualities for you; gossiping, wasting money, and begging.

[Recorded by al-Bukhari, Muslim & others]

Jundub Bin Abdillah and Ibn Abbas reported that Allah's Messanger said:

Whoever does things for others to hear, Allah will make the people hear about his sins (on the Day of Judgement). And whoever does things for others to see, Allah will show his sins to others (on the Day of Judgement).
