I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a bridal gown/lengha/jora whatever you call it with a corset back?
I was thinking something similar to this but more covered with short sleeves. I guess I just want lace on the back instead of fabric but was wondering if that looked tacky?
I don’t want to give my in-laws a heartattack and no, I’m not an exhibitionist I just thought it would look nice.
Have you ever seen it done before? to a normal heavy shalwar kameez or a bridal gown?
my SO is okay with whatever I want but I don’t want to upset anyone else in the process.
Note: I don’t speak Urdu so would appreciate it if you spoke in English only.
I personally don't like it. I think it looks really tacky. I'm not gonna lie I was all about the open back and stuff when I was like 16 but now not so much.
not a bad idea..especially if you have a nice back to flaunt.
you'll have your duppata set over your back anyhow i suppose...so it actually looks kind of cute with brides who get low backs...with slightly see-through dupattas:)
I just want something different and I can't find my friends shalwar kameez (I think thats what it was) but it was gorgeous.
and the back wasn't that open just there was lace..
I wish I could be more clear but I'm going off by memory and I can't find a picture similar to what I'm thinking.
I personally like elegant clothes that suit my shape but I do like trying new different things.
the picture is just an idea so you can grasp what I'm talking about!
I don't want a backless thing like that I would be horrified to wear such a thing especially when I don' have any clothes that even remotely show that much skin
Also what do people think about mermaid lehengas for a 5"4 girl? I know its suited for tall girls and I'm average but have you seen anybody with it..?
(I'm sorry if i'm not making sense I haven't slept)
They can look nice depending on what kind you go for.
Visit the bridal pics thread in the wedding section. You'll get tons of inspiration :) Mermaid lehngas aren't really in anymore.
The corset backs are very Indian. Whether or not should you should get it is a very personal decision b/c it totally depends on YOUR taste. Mermaid styles is also a "trend". At one point it was in....now its out. I'm sure it'll come back in the future.
My personal opinion: When it comes to the outfit for the actual wedding day (nikah/baraat)....stick with something that's traditional/timeless. If you want to do something different (such as the corset back)....do that for the mehndi or walima.
tbh I really really don’t have a preference I know I should but I don’t… as long as its gorgeous, heavy work and looks great on me I don’t really care. (oh and it can’t be red/green/black/white)
I should know what I want right? I always thought of me wearing a white wedding dress so this is just way too different.
You’re 5’4"…so with heels you can easily go upto 5’6" to 5’8". And you’re petite. I think bridal jora’s with longer shirts or the gown style would look great on you.
You really need to decide on some colors. You can’t/don’t want red/green/black/white. That’s fine. But beyond that…what can you do(rather…what do you want to do?). You said you always imagined yourself wearing white. Well, then why not go for another light color? Beige…pale pink…pale blue etc. You can do that with another accent color if you’d like.
If you haven’t already…start going through pictures on the wedding forum. You’ll see TONS of colors and styles. Narrow down 1-2 styles that you like…and 2-3 colors that you want. You don’t have to wear a bright color. Think about choosing a light color so it’s not such a shock to you…lol.
Here’s a thread with some options. But again, there are TONS more on the other forum.
