Corrupt pakistanis.....

I am so fed up with corruption in our system taht I had to start this thread with such a topic (I do appolagise)

My father is over 60 and we have a home from our grandfather the irony is that it is still not on my dads name …as the MEO peshawar…(the person responsible of division of property in CANTONMENT area) says that he wants a handsome bribe for the property to go to his name. now u all tell me how can we live in a country where just to do a legitamate thing u have to bribe people .
To get ur home on ur name …is it too much to ask?
my motivation to start this thread is that if any one knows any one in a good post or in NAB please give me some advice.
I hope if I ever come in power I would have 2 judgements if guilty hanged publically in fortress stadium or peshawar stadium or jinnah park islamabad or found innocent (no grey area) because these people wont learn a lesson untill they see what can happen to them .
u might laugh now but when u r in the same situiation i would ask u how helpless u feel?
good advise would be appreciated.
people from india, the same thing is happening in ur country so u ppl please dont reply.

we need to think what make people to take bribes, is it just habbit?
or they have to?

until we removed that later one we cant say to hang people! once they dont have to take bribe, ie, they have suffcient pay to feed the family stuff and dont have to pass this bribe upwards, untill that day we cant stop sorruption. if someone then do the same, punish him/her and remove from job.

Pakora..tell your dad to record the conversation where the guy is asking for a bribe, and release that tape to newspapers. Your dad is not alone, bribery is very much the norm in Islamic Republic of Pakistan. A few weeks ago, I had to deal with the customs in Lahore, they wanted a hefty bribe to release parts of equipment (which I was told required no import duty). It wasn’t until a phone call was made from somewhere that I was able to clear the equipment. This was used medical equipment brought for a free-clinic in a village. I was so pissed off that if I had a gun, I would have shot the ******* in the balls who asked me for bribe.

Tell your dad to contact someone higher up. It is usually low level bureaucrats who believe that taking bribes is part of their job. Sadly, the Army is very influential, if you have a low level officer (even a Captain) relative or a friend, tell your dad to take him along to the office of MEO and see how property gets transferred into his name.

Have you tried contacting RAB, they have a web site. Besides that you can ask for help from the Wafaqi Mohtasib.

Best of Luck

contact NAB? they are only for political prosecutions, don't bother, they will waste your time.

Take it to the press or the courts. Corruption is the reason Pakistan is a failing state.

wow, i'm so sorry for your this.

Dude, you need to get a hold of an army officer or a politician or anyone with some public sway (rich people). That is the only way to go. Taping the bribery conversation is not a bad idea, but it certainly could bring danger to your family. You can also try challenging him in court.

Mr ahmadi I tottally agree whit u a person gets really Pis*** off , I was feeling the same way that day when I opened the thread.
Its just that I am sitting 7000 miles from home and my parents dont have any one back home for them to do all these jobs. Which furustrates me at times.
Thank u all .....for ur suggestions.

one last thing I wanted to point out was that recording a conversation is a good idea , the thought had crossed my mind , but my dad said that if we dont yieled to the MEO,s request The house will not get into our name till 2050.

There you go again, making fun of Islam like always... Just because ahmedis have been declared non-Muslims, you think you can hurt us by your anti-Islamic comments? No

There have been numerous instances where the anti-corruption board has caught people accepting bribes red handed and have convicted them. Doesnt this go on in every other country too? why do you have to mock Islam cuz of it?

These corrupt people are accountable by their own actions, and they may get away with it in this life, but they will be held responsible as we all know that...

dear spock
always be an optamist....If someone puts a sarcaystic reply in these forums u should pick up the positive points in his reply rateher then having a war of words . with time he might also learn that causticity, and ridicule can help him feel better at the momment but is actually increasing the anger and rage he contains inside.

The next thing u said "my family going to hell" well spock I dont think so u live in pakistan ....The truth is if u havent been to Courts and Kacharies in pakistan u wont know what is going on in there.
Let me enlighten u ........Small case like a land dispute can linger from 2 to 30 years . If u want a date from the balif for ur case ASAP u have to bribe him otherwise u will never get a date for the next hearing.
well in that case 90% of pakistani population who have had a case in court will go to hell.
If u think my dad should run from pillar to post in the courts for 15 years at the age of 65, and in the process bribe 100 other people just to get his house on his name then I think bribing the MEO once can do a better job.

Unfortunately PK you are right the lower courts are quite awful. The average case takes 4 years to be dealt with. And lower court judges usually take bribes. If you lose and go on appeal you will spend years paying legal fees and court fees and bribes.

The Wafaqi Mohtasib is quite a good system and has succeeded in taking action against many officials. Don't knock RAB totally, while it has been ordered to let of people who were "useful" it has arrested some real big fish and managed convictions. the only other alternative is telling the newspapers. In that case it's luck what happens next.

I wish you the best whatever happens. It is much worse for people who are far away from tehir families. Because there needs to be a man around for things to get done.

Uncle jee, read my post again, is it a war of words? I didnt insult anyone, and I wasnt referring to your family yar, I was merely quoting a verse... Is it wrong to do that?

And yes, I have always been a resident of Pakistan, and though you may think that everything there is based on bribes, its not. It gets difficult when you want to get a job done without bribe, but that does not mean you cannot. There have been numerous instances when I have personally got the job done without it. My friend got his drivers license sitting at home, by paying Rs.2,000 to a traffic police guy, I on the other hand went on, stood in scorching heat, took the stupid test they had, and got it back in about 2 weeks, but I did get the job done. Allah, has given us alot of ways, and those people that associate Islam with this malpractice of bribes are wrong, I was merely proving to this NYA gentleman, that Islam forbids giving and taking bribes, as he was highlighting the fact that its the Islamic republic of Pakistan thats actively involved in Bribes, as if its Islam thats responsible for it in other non-Muslim countries like India, where bribery is more prevalent.

I am also a Pakistani. I do not think in Pakistan corruption is that much as is prapogated. I have except for once on custom never ever given any rishwat and all my genuine works are done smoothly. The only reason is if any of my work is delayed or nor done I write to concerned authorities in writing with the result in any bank, phone, post office etc etc no work of mine is delayed or stopped.

People only cry but do not take proper forums and do not struggle

Contact the army monitoring cell trust me they will help you its besides its election time ... THINK and use your brain its easy to critisize but difficult to solve the problem is it not.

Good Luck...
