Learned something new in this thread. How come our nose has to touch the ground? I never heard this before!
yes, it is a requirement for a valid sajda as per Hanafi maslak at least. your elbow and forearm should not be resting on the carpet either. these guidelines are for a valid sajda...if you lack, well...Allah will forgive you if you don't know about it...but, one should learn to do the namaaz correctly.
See, that's what it should be about, to learn something from each other without getting so offended, not necessarily agree with each other.
Rainbow, the way I've been taught to perform sajda is that my forehead, nose and hands (palms and all fingers) and of course feet and knees should be touching the ground.
You know what i cant stand?? its these same correctional officers that are standing next to you during taraweeh burping their iftari back up. But if you tell them that its disturbing you they get all offended. Like their burped up iftari is supposed to smell like a bouquet of flowers :/. Today some old uncle jee burped soo loudly i lost my train of thought and forgot what i was reading. Smelt so bad i nearly lost my balance :/
awww mann why not?? cmon. Just think of what it could do for ur GS cred. Not that its lacking in anyway. But think about it!! Let me take you to greatness
how many of you know that when doing sajdah, one should directly go into sajdah instead of sitting and then doing sajdah? And after doing the second sajdah, one should stand directly instead of sitting first then standing..I didnt know until last year..and Iv seen alot of women doing it wrongly..
i think one of the MOST important things in doing namaaz is NOT rushing through it...every act [arkaan] is supposed to be done properly...i've observed that people tend to hurry up a lot...you have to give enough time between the two acts...especially when standing up from ruk'uu position [people do NOT give a pause of say about 2-4 seconds] and similarly between the two sajda [their back is NOT even straight before they go back to sajda] and when you do salaam phero...
also, people look in all directions while it should be mostly focused at sajda gaah. and, last but NOT the least, one should NOT make unnecessary moves [like changing postures, scratching, sniffling etc]
jo faraiz e namaaz haiN vo to apnii jagah haiN hii...yeh bhii baRe ahm umoor haiN.
Allah ham sab ko saHeeH Dhang se namaaz paRhne kii taufeeq 'ataa farmaaye...aameen

For women, it is practically impossible to go into sajdah without sitting down first. We're required to rest on our left buttock and take both our feet out to the right before going into sajdah. I was trying this out when praying Zuhr and there's no way you can go straight into sajdah without sitting down first.
This is nothing wrong with being corrected. There is always something to learn in Islam. But the manner of how to correct someone is the issue. I was watching a lecture of a local scholar and he said it perfectly: Our duty is to convey, not convince.
I believe one should always learn and be reminded of how to pray Salah according to their school of thought. It's something that we learn at our weekly halaqa at least once a year.
wise thing to do would be to take him aside in private corners and appreciate his effort towards his deen and then very politely tell him what you observed and show him the right way...afterwards, apologize if you offended him in anyway!
Thats the right way of doing it.
BTW, there are so many sects that sometimes i don't know whether people are making a mistake or that how they pray in their fiqh.
All the Arabs cover their feet and wear socks which is fine but they always tell us Pakistanis that we have to cover our feet. Just today a lady told my younger sisters she has to cover her feet its haram to have them show while praying. I personally think little things like this don’t make a difference so we shouldn’t nit pick and tell others to do exactly as we do.
So question is does one have to cover their feet while praying or not?
