so…i thought i’l share it …
Assalamu Alaikum, Its been observed that most of us write “MOSQUE” for
“Masjid” and we even call it Mosque in our Daily routine life, but I
have found out from many of our elders and teachers that the word
“MOSQUE” means the house of mosquitoes and not Masjid. So better be
careful next time instead of writing mosque, u should write MASJID as
this the correct word we must say or write.
Secondly Most of the time we see the spelling of MAKKAH written asMECCA.
The word MECCA means “Sharab Khaana” (Liquor Den) . So let us all avoid
writing MECCA & write it as Makkah only.
Thirdly Many people whose name is Muhammed, write it in a short form as
“Mohd”. The word “Mohd” means “A dog which has a big mouth”. Hence next
time onwards please write the full name Mohammed and not in short.
Its just a paranoia among some illiterates who were told that the English word mosque had been coined from mosquito to insult the Muslims.
I finf it insulting to know that there are ppl out there who actually believe that...
The truth is that the word has been a concoction over a period of time...
The word "Masjid" reached Spain came from Africa, and the Spanish received the word "masjid" as "mesgid" and later transformed it to "mesquit".
Many changes later, the word became "mosquee" in French and "mosque" in English.
now i really don no wht to believe…
