Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

**Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions **ISLAMABAD: The President and the Chief of ArmyStaff General Pervez Musharraf on Friday chaired the 101st Conference of Corps Commanders and Principal Staff Officers at GHQ Rawalpindi.

Among other professional matters, the Conference reviewed internal situation in the country.

The Commanders noted the positive developments in the field of socio-economic progress, and the efforts being made to promote tolerance and moderation in the society.

Participants of the Conference strongly reaffirmed Pakistan Army’s support for continuity of Government’s policies, both internal and external.

The participants reiterated support for the pivotal role of the President and the COAS in the ongoing reform process.

The Conference took serious note of the malicious campaign against Institutions of State, launched by vested interests and opportunists who were acting as obstructionist forces to serve their personal interests and agenda, even at the cost of flouting the rule of law.

The Corps Commanders and Principal Staff Officers of the Pakistan Army affirmed to stand committed for the security of their country under the leadership and guidance of the President and the COAS.

It was resolved to ensure that the nation continues on the path of socio-economic development and carries on its mission to rid the society from the scourge of extremism.

Any attempt by a small minority to obstruct the aspirations of vast majority would only derail the nation from its path of progress and prosperity.

The Pakistan Army is committed to lend full support towards realization of the vision set by the President for a dynamic, progressive and moderate Islamic State.

The President appreciated unstinted support of the participants and assured them that nobody will be allowed to bring instability in the country.

What is the argument Mushy uses when he comes to get his reward from Bush and Blair?

Mushy: What is democracy? Will of the people and free press. I was voted in as president (in a round about way) and we have open free press.

Not anymore you dont. AAJ and ARY off air. Mushy loosing it now.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

risc, aaj and ary are off the air now?

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

This is funny. The dictator is destroying the institutions of parliament, judiciary, the media and even the army. The Corps commanders are just rubber stamping the wishes of the dictator, out of fear for losing their jobs. The dictator, if he has any dignity should give up his post of COAS. His desire not to relinquish this post suggests that he does not have faith in his own institution. It suggests that he has failed in his duty to strengthen the institutions.

I have supported him in the past but with every passing day he is becoming yet a another dictator not different from the ones in the past.

The more he acts like a dictator the more people hate him, and the quicker he will go..one way or another.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

Well said :k:

These Generals are just worried about losing their huge ‘perks’,

The state of the country is of no concern to their growing bank balances and property portfolio.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

They are all his cronies and part of the problem and not the solution to the problem as people commonly understand. The notion that malign the army to an extent that corps commander should throw out their chief will not be possible rather the fabric of country will be destroyed. We will have to find some other way.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

Those that live by the sword die by the sword. If he continues to hang on by force then he will be forced out.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

Thats what BBC was reporting. All cable operators told by General Sahib and friends to cut off or have a friendly game of kabadi.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

Perhaps the TV channels in question should challenge these actions in the courts.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

You cant win against a dictator. Imagine going up to Saddam and saying can I carry on broadcasting your gassing of Kurds? you know who will be getting the first sample of VX gas.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

Its the fear that keeps the dictators in power as soon as the people lose their fear and are prepared for sacrifices then the dictators soon disappear.

If you studied British History then you will know how the common man has struggled to get the rights that we enjoy today. Its these struggles that make great societies. What you are seeing in Pakistan in such a struggle between progressive forces and forces that want to maintain the status quo.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

Musharaf is proving to be a bigger fool then anyone had ever expected... No different then all the rest... Shame, because I really respected him.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

lets say AAJ took the case to court. His new cronies in the judiciary will dismiss it or agree with the dictator.

I agree it's the public who will overthrow him. Thats every dictators fear and Mushy is now becoming more authoritative in his false hope the slide will stop. Just makes it worse.

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

Try preaching anti-american and army slogans in streets of U.S and see everyone turn against you. What are these stations thinking? They are supposed to be nuetral and objective, rather become a propaganda tool for either their party or ratings. It is a shame, first Geo "hack" and now the malicious campaign.

Just like Rosie O' Donnel is bad for anti-war people in the States, these stations plus lawyers are doing the same for people who are legitimate about Cheif Justice case. It is sad, oppostion had so much momentum lost it due to their own incompetence.

free speech is free speech. if its crap no one will watch/listen or believe it

Re: Corps Commanders concerned over malicious campaign against institutions

Free speech comes with barriers, espeically if you have an agenda. Every leader to campaign from Pakistan movement to African American rights knew what they had to say and how certain things can backfire. These stations have no sense what they are talking about, most of the time it is angry politics. Yes, you hate Musharraf but lets not preach instabilty in the country. There are many channels that are against this government, just read recent newpaper to articles, they are openly criticizing the President. This is different.
